Probably the only book on this subject,

This review is from: Slide Out Rooms, Mechanics and Structures (Paperback)
As far as I know, this is the only book on designing and building slide-out rooms. I was curious about how these things work and this book explained it. Perhaps the most valuable content deals with making things as strong as they need to be -- without overbuilding them. That goal is one of the key elements in designing a successful vehicle. Mr. Galey gives several specific examples from a small 40" by 66" slide-out for a desk to a large combination dining and living room measuring 12 feet by 66 inches. Most of his material covers design theory. He doesn't give specific follow-the-steps plans. But that's fine, as anyone building a recreational vehicle probably has specific ideas in mind and really needs to learn how to implement them rather than build to someone else's plan. The book is self-published and at times the lack of a professional editor makes it hard to follow the material. But again, it's the only book on the subject. So if you want to build a slide-out, buy the book.
