Odd at first, but truly a fun workout, May 7, 2008
This review is from: Slider The Unscooter U6 Three-Wheeled Action Scooter (6-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
Head to the manufacturer's website first thing: www.unscooter.com and you'll find out much more than what's posted on Amazon. For instance, the U6 is for ages 13 and up, up to 250 lbs. It's the most maneuverable of the adult models, while the U8 provides a bit more stable and a (slightly) speedier ride. I really couldn't figure out how to ride this thing at first. It took me a few times around the block, trying a variety of foot positions to get going. Besides just getting out there and trying it, one of the best ways to learn the different riding styles is to watch the videos on the manufacturer's website. Believe me, there is no wrong way to ride this thing, and that's definitely part of its appeal. The other thing that took me a while to figure out: this is not really a speed machine. Trikke's scooters will give you a faster ride, but you have fewer movement options and you need a wider riding space with a Trikke--I don't think you'd be welcome on many sidewalks with the Trikke. I went for an Unscooter instead of a Trikke because of the maneuverability differences. I think it's harder to learn to ride an Unscooter, but, baby, will you ever get a work out--from your core to your ankles. And once you understand how to make the thing glide and turn and swivel, you'll be hooked. I'm 43, and after a few falls, too chicken to in-line skate. This is a fun, safe, and more stabile solution for me. Last thing, find the smoothest riding surface possible. Asphalt is do-able, but by no means preferred. It only slows you down.

This review is from: Slider The Unscooter U6 Three-Wheeled Action Scooter (6-Inch Wheels) (Sports)
Our daughter received a Slider the Unscooter U6A for her 9th birthday. It only took her about a half hour to figure out how to ride well. She loves the Slider because "It is fun and is good exercise for my muscles." We love it because she is a type 1 diabetic and this is a fun way for her to help control her blood sugars with exercise. We had looked at purchasing a Trikke, but weighing the advantages of the Slider and especially after riding hers, we both chose to order the U8A Slider. It's a breeze to learn to ride. She can ride it on the sidewalk in front of our house or it's easy to load up for travel. We have taken it to our state fairgrounds and had a blast for hours. It is a workout trying to go up even a slight incline, flat surfaces are better for steady speed. On a level service this machine doesn't offer high speed, but more than makes up for it in its maneuverability. The rush is in performing a 180, 360, or taking a 90 degree turn with speed. As you are making turns you shift your body weight and drift through the turn, it's so much fun! Going down a decline and making a 90 degree turn with some speed is such an adrenaline rush. You do have to allow for drifting but that makes it even more fun, what a ride! I haven't worked out regularly for the past ten years. Since my daughter received her slider we are riding it every chance we get. I have been looking for a fun form of exercise I can do with my 9 and 3 year old children. I've found it! I can be within 20 feet of my 3 yr. old and I'm still getting an excellent lower body and cardio workout. The best part is we are all enjoying being outdoors and active together. I can't wait to get my hands on my U8A as soon as it arrives. Maybe, then I can quit asking my daughter "Is it my turn yet?" Actually, if truth be told it's more like "Mom is it MY turn to ride MY scooter yet". It is so addicting, that my only concern is, "How am I going to get through the winter months without it?" I have never been in any sports and I'm not very athletic but I was able to graduate from a novice to intermediate in less than an hour. I would highly recommend the slider for kids or adults.

My favorite mobile exerciser!, November 7, 2008
I have been riding the U6 for several months now and have really enjoyed it. I like it so much (and so do my sons) I had to buy the U8 so they would leave my PINK U6 alone!! We live in Florida and have no hills, so I can ride this anywhere. This is the only exercise routine I have been able to stick with and many want to know where I got my funky scooter. I have toned up and lost a couple pants sizes with my increased activity riding this scooter. Now with a 2nd one, I can drag my girlfriends out with me for some daily exercise. For those who hate to exercise, I highly recommend this scooter!
