We Love This Book!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Who's in the Sea? (Sliding Surprise Book Series) (Hardcover)
My 15 month old son Loves this book! He delights in the peek-a-boo style. We get lots of laughs with this one and read it over and over again. Since purchasing this book, we recently searched for other books by this author.

He simply can't get enough. Too bad it's only about 10 pages long. We also have the "Who's Daddy Does This" book and he enjoys that as well.

Who's in the Sea?(Sliding Surprise Books),

Great books that my children have all loved! The only complaint I would have is after a while they fall apart or the kids are too rough with them and they tear them apart.

Why is the Sea Green?,
This review is from: Sliding Surprise Books: Who's In The Sea? (Board book)
We recently purchased quite a few books in this series by Reasoner and have been very impressed with the interactive design. Each page describes something about the animal, then you pull apart the page to see which animal does the specified actions. A word of caution: The sliding mechanism will probably be too hard for your child to manage alone -so this will be a book that can only be read together. If you do let your child look at it alone, he will only be looking at pages of scenery since the animals are hidden behind the sliding mechanism. I have two complaints about this book in particular: First, the water on each page is GREEN and the author also shows GREEN seaweed and plantlife under the ocean that looks like grass. This was totally confusing to my 16 mo. old and he didn't completely understand why a crab, starfish, dolphin, etc. were living in what resembled- our backyard;-) when he clearly knows that these animals live in water. Second, the animals are cartoonish and don't entirely resemble what they are supposed to be. Having said this, I don't regret the purchase and recommend this book - with some reservations.

I gave my two grandchildren this book when they were 1 and 3 and they are now 3 and 5 and it is still their favorite book. When ever they come over, which is often, they get out "crabby, crabby" and the eldest is now reading the book to me. We added hand motions for each animal and the boys love to act out the book as we read. I have purchase several of the other titles by Charles Reasoner in this series, but this is still their favorite. Who's in the Sea will go down as their first book that they could read themselves and will be treasured as such. It started their love of books.
