From Booklist

Markham's fourth novel featuring neurotic Manhattanite Tracey Spadolini finds her at long last engaged to Jack Candell, who popped the question at the end of the previous entry, Slightly Engaged (2006). Now Tracey has a wedding to plan, and it's not quite the one her new fiancé hoped for. She's managed to pare the guest list down to a mere 300, but who to have in the wedding and where to have it are proving to be trickier dilemmas. As happy as Tracey is to finally be engaged and as much as she loves Jack, she can't help but think about her friend Buckley, with whom she almost got romantic. What if Buckley, who is also engaged, really is the one for her? There are plenty of laughs this time around as Tracey frets and worries about making her big day the most romantic one of her life. Could Slightly Pregnant be up next? Stay tuned; hopefully this isn't the last of Tracey's adventures. Huntley, Kristine

2.0 out of 5 stars Why do I keep doing this to myself?, April 1, 2010

Medium Cute (San Diego, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Slightly Married (Slightly Series) (Kindle Edition)
I don't know why I keep reading the "Slightly" series when I cannot stand Tracey. Has a more self-centered heroine existed? By this book there is simply nothing likable about Tracey. Her complaints about the self-centeredness of others is no longer cutely ironic, they are blatantly obnoxious. I guess I keep hoping that maybe the learning-growing-changing Tracey of the first two books will re-emerge.

Tracey is better here than in the terrible "Slightly Engaged" but I didn't care if she ended up married or not. Her sense of entitlement coupled with her weight-linked insecurity is exhausting. The "what about Buckley" line and the wedding-planning-is-crazy-Tracey-wants-it-all-how-will-she-afford-a-lavish-honeymoon stuff felt like one cliché after another. And yes, the whole chick lit genre is built on cliché, but this one was more painful than usual--though maybe it's because I find the "I'm getting married so I'm a princess" attitude pretty gross in general.

Anyway, this series has gotten as boring and self-indulgent as Tracey herself, so I won't be reading any more Slightlys.

3.0 out of 5 stars A quick read, June 10, 2007
Although this has been a quick and easy read (it took me less than a day to finish reading the book), I have to agree with "T. Avon." Tracey's internal monologues have become annoying and frustrating throughout these sequels. However, this has been toned down just a bit in "Slightly Married." She has also been irritatingly wishy-washy about some of her feelings, emotions, and thoughts. But, this book definitely has its memorable, heart-felt moments. Plus, there are so many different types of characters with varying personalities that only give roundness to the story. Overall, I enjoyed reading "Slightly Married" - the fact that I only put this book down once (to sleep) in between buying and finishing it is a testament to how entertaining it is!

3.0 out of 5 stars Much better than the last one, May 29, 2007

Okay, so I caved in and bought this one - even after I wrote a review saying how much I did not like the previous book in the series.

Actually, this one was much, much better. I would have rated a 3.5 stars, but I did not have that option. I like the way Wendy Markham writes, but as the series advances, the main character gets more and more annoying.

Fortunately, Markham managed to make her main character much less annoying this time around. Don't get me wrong, the main character is still incredibly immature and kind of whiny, but somehow this time around, I managed to get beyond it.

The storyline is cute and there are a few unpredictables. I actually came to care a little bit about Jack even - although he seems part of the furniture - after all, this is about the obsession of getting married - not about the reality of it.

Still, it was much better than the last book. Next time around - please, please give the main character some backbone and more brains.
