Before I begin, I'd like to give my takes on Red Dress Ink. This year's offerings have a "been there, done that" feel to them. Having read wonderful and memorable Red Dress Ink installments last year such as A Clean Slate, Losing It, Carrie Pilby, Diary of a Blues Goddess and My Life Uncovered (just to name a few), this year's books have thus far failed to impress me. I feel as though I'm reading the same book over and over again. Alas, the year has barely begun and I shall wait and see if things improve. To be on the safe side, however, I shall only pick up new RDI releases from my favorite authors (i.e., Erica Orloff, Melissa Senate, Lindsay Faith Rech and Lynda Curnyn) after I finish the RDI I'm currently reading called Fat Chance.

Moving on to Slightly Settled. Slightly Settled, the sequel to Slightly Single, has its moments of wit and insight on being single. Despite her struggles in the first installment, which included losing weight and working on her relationship with the wayward Will, Tracey's life hasn't changed as much as she had thought. And so, further efforts to climb the corporate heap and find to true love in New York City are again in store for the frustrated heroine. The novel is a light, fun and entertaining chick-lit. Ms. Markham is a good writer. And readers who aren't bothered with the recycled plot will love this book. However, it just wasn't good enough for me.

"Slightly Settled" is the follow-up to Wendy Markahm's first Red Dress ink book "Slightly Single." This is a really great book. This books picks-up three months after the first book as Tracey is still looking for love in the big city. As usual, Ms. Markham delivers sassy characters, who each should get their own book. Quick dialogue that holds the readers interest and makes them wanting for more.
This is a great book for any fan of "Chick-lit" and I hope in the future we get more of both Tracey and Wendy Markham.

Tracey Spadolini left her family in a small upstate town in New York to be with Will in the Red Apple. They were together for three years and she was hoping he would ask her to marry him but instead he dumps her for another woman. She gets so depressed that she starts seeing a psychiatrist who prescribes anti-depressants for her, causing her to lose close to fifty pounds. Now she is slender with an eye-catching figure with no one to share it with.

At the office Christmas party she meets Jack and the two of them hit it off immediately. After the party, they go to her apartment where they make love all night long. Her friends don't think she should get in a deep relationship with Jack because she's still on the rebound from Will. As time passes, Will turns into a bad memory and Jack is still waiting for her to get over her insecurities.

Aside from the opening chapter where the protagonist has a one night stand with a man she met while very drunk, Tracey is very easy to like with her bundle of insecurities and her doubts that she is attractive. This is a delightful chick lit story about a woman looking for Mr. Right and when she finds him she fears he will turn into a toad like her previous boyfriend. Wendy Markham delivers a lighthearted romp that turns up the body heat on a cold winter's day.

Do some Americans lack an inner life? I would have fought you to the death on that one until I read 'Slightly Settled.' Tracey seems to think about little but losing weight, picking her dress for the party and snagging a boyfriend. Seeing her boss in his underwear in the hallway? We should all have such earthshaking crises. The book also had several typos and editing errors that reinforced the impression it was a write-to-order rush job. The dialogue is snappy, however, and Tracey gets a few good lines. With this kind of character, I guess it's a relief that no "big issues" were introduced. For fun, light reading, you can do a lot better, but at least no one gets an eating disorder or dies of AIDS.

We greet Tracey Spadolini shortly where we left off....broken up with Will, still friends with Buckley, Raphael, and Kate, but now she's back at Blaire Barnett as a secretary. She's got a new boss and life seems good. A sequence of events starting with the Office Christmas party leads Tracey to find a new man named Jack. Is he

I really enjoyed this book the most from the Slightly Series. It was very fast moving and I couldn't put it down. I loved it!

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and it made me laugh. One of the reasons I really liked it, I was able to get through it pretty quickly, so it didn't take out too much of my studying time. And I love when a book actually makes me laugh out loud.

I just finished this book, and have to say how much I enjoyed it. It was fast paced, funny, sacarstic and just my favorite kind of writing. I can't wait to read more from this author.

There is much to be said about a nice, easy-to-read novel. The Red Dress Ink offerings are soothing, fun and very addictive. Wendy Markham's effort, Slightly Settled, is definitely one of the better ones.

Slightly Settled tells the story of newly-single gal, Tracy Spadolini. It's been three months since her boyfriend of three years, Will, dumped her for another girl, and Tracy finally decides it's time to get back out there. Newly slim (after being prescribed "happy pills" to curb her panic attacks and, surprisingly, her appetite), Tracy has no problem hooking up with sexy Jack at the office Christmas party. The downside? Jack is Tracy's boss's roommate, and catching Mike in the hallway in his underwear does not a good day make!

However, that turns out to be the least of Tracy's problems. Besides catching grief from her friends about dating too soon after her breakup, it seems her ex doesn't know how to leave her alone. Plus, her friend, Buckley, who would make a great Mr. Right, somehow manages to insert himself into the picture, too.

Life is suddenly complicated, and even Tracy's weekly therapy sessions don't help much in figuring out what to do. Wendy Markham's story plays out in a freshly realistic way, and watching as Tracy works out her problems (or tries to!) keeps the reader turning pages quickly. Very light and fun, Slightly Settled is one book that will have you more than slightly entertained.

Very funny you will love the main character. One of those you won't be able to put down until done.
