I was looking for a table-top mini tripod to support my Canon 5DM2-something that would not drift while shooting a time-lapse. Behold the Silk Mini 2!

Pros:
* Supports weight without any drift. Conservatively rated at 2.75 lbs. I've thrown on a 5-pound setup with no drift
* Super easy to adjust
* Small, central suction cup for smooth surfaces-an additional support leg for rough surfaces
* A liquid leveler
* Knobs that can withstand strong tightening
* 8.5 inch height when all elements are fully extended
* Comes with a nice, faux-velvet case
* Really low price, given the build quality and competition

Cons:
Much larger than a traditional table-top tripod

All in all, if your need is support, this guy is your tripod! If you desire portability, this should not be your first pick.

I've had and discarded a few small tripods -- most are too flimsy to steady anything bigger than a small pocket camera. The Slik Mini II, however, is built like other Slik products -- it's strong, solid, and keeps my Canon SX40 steady as a rock. However, it's intended for use on a table or similar surface, as the name indicates, and it is not a replacement for a full-sized tripod. That said, it's nice for those occasional group photos that you want to be in, or for low-light situations, provided you have an appropriate surface on which to set it.

I decided to try this little tripod for tabletop use and quick set-ups in my lawn/pond garden area. Using a G1 m4/3 with any lens thru the 45-200, the little tripod seems to work well.

For tabletop use, it's quite nice, taking up little space and has adequate height for flowers in vases The pan/tilt head is removable if a different head was preferable, but for practical use, this one is fine. I haven't really missed the quick release I would normally use with my higher end gear.

I also have an Ultrapod II as an ultra compact pocket pod, but it isn't my first choice for tabletop use. I never really cared for the Gorillapod I have. The Slik Mini has the more familiar tripod feel and adjustability. It is far more solid as camera adjustments are made.

For outdoor shots of low subjects in the garden, it's adequate and convenient. If I want to get serious or take the time to set up, use extension tubes/macro rails, I just use my good stuff.

It has no real negatives to speak of, I just have options. It's useful, convenient and adequate for most purposes. It appears well suited for tabletop use. And that's what I wanted it for primarily.

The more I use it, the more "likeable" and versatile it becomes, indoors or out. It's well worth the minimal cost.

If you want a tabletop tripod for a typical lightweight point-and-shoot camera, this is probably overkill--you can get away with something lighter and smaller. But for larger ultrazooms, and especially DSLRs, this extremely sturdy little tripod is ideal. Everything about it is solid. The legs extend to provide a much broader base than a typical tabletop tripod, minimizing the chance that even a heavy camera (up to a kilo or so) with a long lens will feel "tippy." And one feature I really love: it has a traditional 1/4-20 tripod screw, instead of the wobbly, incompatible quick-release plate typically found on low-end tripods.

There's really not much to say about this guy. He's exactly what he looks like. A tiny tripod! Just like a standard tripod, you can pan and tilt, although there's no handle to facilitate smooth movement. There's also no rotation along the X axis to support recording portrait. It's obviously not designed for all that much movement while filming, but to provide a stable platform on even relatively uneven surfaces (each of the legs can telescope ~1.5" to support leveling), it works really well.

Build quality is solid. Very happy with it.

I've had a full-size Slik tripod for 25+ years, and its been great, which is why I chose this mini. It is very sturdy, well made, and can handle heavy cameras. Slik has always been well engineered, and this is no exception, with great fit and finish. I use it for a Pentax DSLR and a GoPro, and it adjusts well to both. If your comparing with any other brand, this is the one to pick.

Good stable tripod, easy to attach scope.
Only negative is that leg length must be adjusted to get the needed vertical height.

After much research I decided to buy the Slik Mini II Table-top Tripod. I am very happy I bought this mini-tripod. I needed a mini-tripod to hold my Olympus SP-610UZ while I take shots of my jewelry for my website. It holds my camera and allows me to take effortless pictures.
It is an excellent value for the money. The tripod is sturdy and adjustable.
