I have been using Slimfast for quite a while as I have lost weight and now need to work at keeping healthy with my food choices. I used the Slimfast Optima in the cans for the longest time. They were fine but very bulky to purchase and store and though the drinks did fill me up for 4 hours as stated they weren't such a treat while drinking them. They tasted fine but were somewhat bland.

I ordered this powdered version for convenience sake. The order comes with 3 cans - 14 shakes per jar - for a total of 42 shakes. What a great deal! But most importantly I have the freedom to make the shakes to my preference for a treat just like a milk shake. With the directions they say you can just mix it with milk and drink. I don't recommend this - very boring. Definitely use a blender. I use the powder, ice and milk in the blender and add my favorite fruit as well. What I get is a frothy, tasty, cold delicious treat that I look forward to drinking. I savor it and it holds me over for 4 hours and is so preferable to the premade shakes in a can.

It is important to remember that no nutrition/diet item is a miracle worker. This product will give you meal supplements that you will love to drink but it still rests on you to make healthy choices the rest of the time. Slimfast does have great tools for free on their site to help you as you try to loose weight and eat healthy.

These meal replacement shakes taste good but fail to offer any real body. When made with the skim milk they taste roughly like chocolate milk. My suggestion is to add in a serving of fruit or blend it with ice to give it some extra volume. This has an effect on how filling these products will be.

Previous reviews focused on the sugar involved in these drinks. While its true sugar is non-nutrative these shakes are fortified and contain roughly 1/3rd of your daily requirements for most nutrients. These products are not for someone on a low carb diet but valuable for someone who is on a reduced calorie diet. Finally the price per serving for the mixes will beat most other products hand down. If you are dieting on a budget you'll want to start here.

After giving in to the suggestion to try Slim Fast for weight loss, I bought this item on Amazon, because the price was far and away the best I could find, and I figured I'd be using it for a while. I was not impressed. I tried to stick to the plan as suggested on the can, but I found myself starving most of the day, and ravenous by dinner time, even with snacks. I tried modifying it a couple of ways, and ended up actually gaining weight. I was not over-eating. When I stopped using the Slim Fast and just went to an adjusted calorie diet with more protein in the morning (a Weight Watchers style program), I started losing weight again. I think that these shakes contain far too many carbs, and not nearly enough protein, and they are too sweet, and kind of weird tasting. Unfortunately I put myself on the automatic shipment plan and didn't cancel before the second shipment came out. What a pain. I am sure there are people Slim Fast works for. I am not one of them. I just like real food too much.

My suggestion is that you go to the local store, if you have one, and buy a can of this stuff to try before you purchase it online. It's a lot easier to return that way. If you just like the taste, this is a great deal.

Despite what the first reviewer says, a weight loss product does not have to be sugar free. It doesn't matter if those calories are in the form of protein, sugar, fat or jelly donuts. As long as your body is utilizing more calories than you're putting in then you'll lose weight. That said, I wish this product did have a little less sugar.

Despite the sugar concerns, I think Slim-Fast Optima is a pretty good product. I believe they added more protein and fiber which helps make you feel satiated longer and it contains less sugar than the original Slim-Fast formula. There is no magical weight loss product. These supplements are simply a way of substituting for some of the higher calories items you would eat. They should be a compliment to healthy foods that comprise the rest of your diet.

As for the taste... I have tried both the chocolate and strawberry varities and think they're both pretty good. They're not a dessert by any means but the taste is more than acceptable for what they are. The powder also dissolves fairly easily without clumping like some other products do.

they taste excellent, i always have them as breakfast, easy to use, fast to prepare, take less than 30 sec to finish, and they are healthy. GREAT for breakfast if you're in the hurry.

it's taken me nearly 2 years to start losing my baby weight. tried various ways, but too much effort is involved any other way. it suits me so well as i ADORE milk shakes and chocolate. plus i'm lazy - not with my kids, but with myself. i was skipping breakfast daily - now i look forward to a shake when i get up. i'm definitely hungry 4 hrs afterwards. but i haven't gone 4 hrs without eating for so long, that's a miracle within itself! i blend it with loads of ice - the vanilla and chocolate royale flavors are delicious - though the chocolate is also good, but the royale is slightly better (the chocolate is slightly less chocolatey and more milky). i find this easy to stick to - i eat a fair amount at night and also snack at night - weight is still coming off. i've been doing it for 6 wks and lost 18lbs (started at 187lbs, now 169lbs) still got 29lbs to go, but not daunted by that any more. this is all done with NO exercise. once it slows down i will try and exercise too. FYI there are so many people now that get paid to write reviews i am always dubious about any good reviews - I want to assure you that i am not being paid. i understand that this diet won't work for every one as there is a lack of variety - but that's fine with me as long as chocolate is involved!

I love SlimFast and most of their products. If you have the time making the shakes yourself it is much cheaper than buying them already made in the cans. And this flavor, the Milk Chocolate is my absolute favorite. I make it in a blender and add half a banana and it is a delicioius shake. I find these shakes definitely keep me full for 4 hours but I need to be prepared with something healthy to eat when that 4 hours is up for miraculously if I let too much time pass I will crave things that are not good for me.

This product does its job very well. It provides all the nutrients, vitamins and protein necessary for a healthy diet. It is not SlimFasts fault whether we loose weight or not. We need to be healthy with our diet the rest of the time as well as exercise. It is a difficult journey to loose weight and SlimFast has some great products to help. Also meant to add that I have one of these shakes for breakfast and lunch daily and that way I am able to go through the day healthy and with energy each day. It is up to me to provide the healthy dinner.

I have been using Slimfast powders for years. I put them in my coffee (chocolate) and in the summer, in "health" shakes I make. They blend well plus I feel I am getting my nutrition. I like the taste of all of them!

A tip though: You can get these at Walmart for around $6 a can.

I am deployed right now and I drink this as a great way to get my daily dose of vitamins and minerals since our diet over here doesn't give us everything we need. Not only is it good for you but it tastes great, and mildly curbs hunger.

This is the only way I have ever been succesful in loosing weight. It's satisfying with fast results. I have never had any ill effects from it. The shipping was fast with the best price around. I find the French Vanilla a little too sweet I prefer the chocolate varieties best.
