The slime kit worked good for almost a year after purchase with only light use. I would use the tire compressor about once a month to inflate my tires rather than going to the fill stations that charge for air. The compressor would inflate my tires in a timely manner but was and always has been extremely loud. I suppose this is to be expected for such a small compressor...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the money, December 27, 2010

Great emergency kit for the money. Inflated my car tire to 30psi in less than 10 minutes. Attachments for sports equipment (I haven't used). Just bought a 2nd for my girlfriend's car at O'Reillys for $19.95.

4.0 out of 5 stars inexpensive insurance . . ., June 2, 2009
This review is from: Slime Smart Spair 15-Minute Emergency Tire Repair Kit (Misc.)
My experience with Slime has been limited to bicycle tires, where the product does a good job sealing up pinhole and other small punctures in the tire tube. I have never used Slime in an automobile tire, but since the materials are basically the same, I would assume that the product would work in a similar way.

For an automobile, where the flat occurs makes a big difference. If your car is parked and notice your tire is flat, this kit would probably be quite useful. You can at least use the compressor to pump up the tire and check how bad the leak is. If it is a fast leak, you can try using the Slime and see if it takes care of the problem. The car does not need to be jacked up to use the product.

If the puncture happens when the car is being driven, the problem is more serious. When you drive on tire that is significantly deflated or flat, most times you will do heavy duty damage, or tear the tire. If that happens, Slime won't help. The tire will need to be replaced. The instructions state that Slime will not work on punctures greater than 1/4 inch. So basically, Slime is intended to address only minor tire damage.

The Smart Spair kit is a pretty good deal. It consists of a 16 ounce bottle of slime, and a compressor which plugs into the lighter outlet. According to the label, a 16 ounce bottle, should be adequate to treat one averaged sized tire. The 16 ounce bottle is available at Amazon for about nine dollars. Subtract this cost from the price of the kit, and you are getting the compressor for less than fifteen dollars, which is not a bad deal. The compressor has a pressure valve, ten foot cord, and on/off switch. It is pretty noisy, and seems to have a reasonably quick pump rate. It is rated for use on a minimum 15 amp circuit. Some older cars have lighter circuits rated at only 8 amps, so you may want to check this before you buy.

Hopefully I will not have to use the Smart Spair. Based on the good (though limited) experience I have with Slime, I thought it would be good to have around, just in case. There are many situations, where changing a tire at the side of the road, can be hazardous. A kit like this could be valuable to those that are not capable of, jacking up their vehicle and changing the tire. It does not take a mechanical genius to follow the directions.

While at the grocery store, I noticed a note on my car that said one of my tires was leaking, (you could actually hear it hissing 10 feet away). I had purchased this nifty little kit, and was a little hesitant that it would actually work. I was pleasantly surprised! Super simple to use, and the pressure readout really helps! Even though it took about 15 minutes to pump up my completely flat tire, it was extremely convenient to not have to hold the gauge on the valve.

I didn't use the sealant, (saving it for a real emergency, like out in the middle of nowhere) but the tire was inflated enough to get me to a repair shop.

You can't beat the peace of mind for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Slime air pump, January 21, 2010
This review is from: Slime Smart Spair 15-Minute Emergency Tire Repair Kit (Misc.)
This Slim air pump is very compact and works very well. I keep it on my Goldwing along with a Dynaplug Kit. I highly recommend this product. I am only recommending the pump not the slime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace of mind, September 10, 2011

Our BMW came with run-flat tires and no room for a spare. Those run flats were noisier, wore out faster, and rode rougher than the non-run flat version of the same tire. They were also much more expensive. We swapped to those non-run-flat tires but worried about finding a roofing nail or bad pothole in the road one day and regretting it.

Thanks to this kit we no longer have to worry. I've used slime in other cars before an it outperforms fix-a-flat easily. Its a little harder to put in than the competitor but you can keep this in your car year-round and you couldn't do that with an aerosol can.

This kit can help provide peace of mind for you whether you keep it in your car, your spouse's car, your kid's car, or wherever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked good for almost a year..., January 20, 2012
This review is from: Slime Smart Spair 15-Minute Emergency Tire Repair Kit (Misc.)
The slime kit worked good for almost a year after purchase with only light use. I would use the tire compressor about once a month to inflate my tires rather than going to the fill stations that charge for air. The compressor would inflate my tires in a timely manner but was and always has been extremely loud. I suppose this is to be expected for such a small compressor but I think some noise dampening would be in order as I'm hands down the loudest thing in the neighborhood when I use this compressor. Recently though the compressor hasn't been doing the job and is actually deflating my tires rather than inflating them. At first I thought I had a problem with my tire or perhaps a puncture but it now does this with multiple tires so the compressor must be dying. After less than a year that's pretty sad especially with only light use. I expect much better performance for $20 dollars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pump works but Slime solution made my problem worse, November 12, 2011

Slime did not work for me. When I contacted the company, I got the return email below. Below that, you will see the original email I sent to the company to see if I they can help me resolve the problem. Slime made my problem go from bad to worse. However, the pump works well (average would be 3 but deducted one star for making my tire wobble).

Thank you for contacting SLiME!
If the plug is leaking, that tells me that it does not have a good seal. Slime is compatible with plugs, but if the plug is leaking, it can be rather difficult for the sealant effectively to treat the puncture. Tire plugs and tire sealant are temporary repairs and if the tire is still leaking we would suggest that they remove the plug so the sealant can work with the memory of the tire to seal the puncture. While the instructions do not state to remove a tire plug, they also do not say to use it with a plug.
On the other hand, the liquid nature of the sealant can cause vibrations (as noted on the warning label). Since you are experiencing wobbling/vibration issues, the only way to remedy the situation is to remove the sealant. The tire should be repaired with a plug/patch from the inside of the tire after the sealant is removed.

My tire recently developed a puncture and I got the tire repaired using traditional plug from the repair shop. However, after about two months, the plug did not hold up and tire developed a slow leak at the same punctured spot. So instead of going back, I used sealant from the kit I had purchased from Amazon in May, hoping this would fix the tire.

I followed instructions as shown on the product brochure and made sure puncture was at 6 oclock position and after putting in the solution, I ran the car in slow stop and go motion for good 2 miles and sped up to distribute the solution evenly. Now the tire feels heavier, noisier and wobbles like it is out of balance but the air still leaks from the spot I wanted to plug with this product. I initially thought maybe I should take the plug out but the plug had worn evenly with the tire and it was impossible using needle nose plier and since your instruction did not specify that plug needs to come out so I left it there. Your product seems to have overall good reviews but it did not work in my situation. If plug being in the tire is the problem, you should address that with your instructions. Now I feel that the only way to resolve this is to replace my tire.

I don't know what you can do to resolve this but I just wanted you to know about my situation for future product development or instruction update.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, September 25, 2011

Great product. I bought to fix tire on my snow blower, but now I use pump to monitor and adjust tire pressure on my car. I do have on dash monitor, but to adjust frequently on pump is not most convenience, this is.

Hopefully it's a good product when I need it. The reviews I read from folks that needed it were good so I purchased it to keep in the trunk for emergency. Decent price.
