This review is from: Slip-and-Fall Prevention Made Easy: A Comprehensive Guide to Preventing Accidents (Paperback)
SLIP AND FALL PREVENTION MADE EASY:
A COMREHENSIVE GUIDE TO PREVENTING ACCIDENTS aims to increase awareness and understanding of slip-and-fall accidents on both the ship floor and the showroom floor and to provide all industries with the information needed to prevent future incidents from occurring.
According to author Russell Kendzior, an internationally recognized slip-and-fall prevention expert, more than one million people seek emergency room treatment for an accidental fall each year. In addition, more workers' compensation claims result from slips and falls and more people aged 15-24 years old incur occupational injuries as a result of slips and falls than from any other cause. As a result, businessed face increased employee absences, increased health cost, and decreased productivity.
Backed by more than ten years of research, Kendzior examines the cause-and-effect nature of slips and falls and describes the scope of slip-and-fall accidents. He provides readers with the tools needed to understand the nature of the Accident Cycle, apply that understanding to their organizations, and learn to recognize the contributing factors and the patterns in their own business environments.
Using one firm's success story as an example, Kendzior explains how readers can apply his lessons to their organizations to successfully manage slip-and-fall accidents, reduce the costs associated with slips and falls, and maintain awareness of the regulatory and legal issues surrounding these accidents.
CHAPTERS INCLUDED ARE UNDERSTANDING THE SCOPE OF SLIP-AND-FALL ACCIDENTS, Factors that Cause and Contribute to Slips and Falls, Defining Slip Resistance, Regulatory and Legal Governance, and Managing Your Slips and Falls. Slip and Fall Prevention: Tips and Practical Strategies, December 22, 2000
This review is from: Slip-and-Fall Prevention Made Easy: A Comprehensive Guide to Preventing Accidents (Paperback)
This book presents an excellent introduction to both the study and prevention of slip and fall accidents. The author presents an informative, yet, easily read account of the science of slips and falls. The discussion of the causes of slips and falls is accompanied by an understanding of practical ways to prevent them.
This would be a very useful book for both laymen and serious students of accident prevention. With slips and falls representing the greatest cause of accidental death and injury for the elderly, any one who works with this population should purchase this book. Individuals in the hospitality, food service, health care, and manufacturing industries would find this very useful. Any safety professional should add this to his/her references.
In addition to the book, the National Floor Safety Institute, a non-profit organization, is also available to provide more information on the subject.
Definitely worthwhile reading!
