It's nice to see some American companies matching and even exceeding the quality of their foreign (usually China) made counterparts or, in this case apparently, "knock offs".

In this case, there is a little poetic justice involved as well, since it appears the Slip-N-Snip was the original inventor and manufacturer of these scissors.

I have both a Chinese made, generic version (perhaps Coughlan from REI) and now these Slip-N-Snips.

The Slip-N-Snips are just a lot better made and assembled. Not better finished - the polish and grinds are very utilitarian on both - both the alignment of the blades and sharpness are much better on the Slip-N-Snips.

I think the original maker got lucky. They realized that these are a special purpose, utility grade scissor and never tried to make them as "purty" as even the kid's Fiskars scissors you see at Target etc. That way they keep the price down. At the same time they didn't neglect the important parts - sturdiness, good construction, good blade alignment and tightness, good cutting edge finish. So at the sub $5 price these things go for, competitors like Fiskar just stay out. At the same time, even if they are a buck or two more than the made in China version, THAT buck or two is WELL SPENT to get the increase in functional quality.

I forgot I had these in my carry on bag on my last flight to and from Asia. Either they are "legal" now or I got lucky. Please check TSA requirements before you carry yours on board, though, they might be prohibited.

Best use of these scissors if you are a guy?

Opening blister packs - or anything else that is so hard to tear open or otherwise open these days.

Very quality scissors and made in the USA! My mother has had a pair of these for over 20 years and hers are still going strong. I looked around for a pair of fold-able scissors for my crafting and every other pair I purchased was cheap and not durable at all. She found these online and I purchased slip and snip brand for the first time. They are really well made and comfortable and easy to use. They are sturdy and do not feel like they would be easy to bend or break. They also cut very well. I would recommend these to anyone.

I was glad to find these folding sizzors on Amazon when I was looking to buy gifts made in the USA. I have had mine for several years. They are the perfect size to put in a sewing box or purse. They are of good quality and sturdy.

These fold up easily but they are not very sharp so currently really cannot be used. Hopefully they can be sharpened enough to be useful.

Perfect for keeping in the makeup bag in my purse. Have used them frequently for small jobs. The fact that they fold together eliminates any sharp edges and prevents tearing of your bag.

I already had a pair of these scissors but wanted another pair in my car. They come in very handy for when I need to cut something and a knife won't do. I can easily fold them back close and place them in my center console until need them again. They are a little stiff right now but I suspect that will change once I start using them more often like the pair I already have. I'm just surprised how you can't find these in a brick and mortar store! Not even a fabric store!

This are kind of big and thick compared to the ones that I bought from a lace/fabric store. They are good for all around use (like fishing, hardware, crafts). They are durable. They are good travel scissors. They are not good for anything finer than that - which is surprising considering they are small. I have plenty of other scissors that can serve the all-around use, and portable ones too like those that come with a Leatherman multipurpose tool.

Even for a shaving kit, I would prefer scissors with sharper / finer blades. Definitely for sewing these are not great - the tips are too blunt to be useful.
