When men were men...with hairspray.,

I was born in England(i now live in Boston USA)and have loved Whitesnake since 1980,saw them live in 88,and in donnington 1990,where incidentaly 2 tracks on the dvd are taken, and this album has,and never will sound better,do not quarrel with yourself over the price, its worth every cent!Gorgeous packaging, and an album that has aged very, very well. Get in your car and crank it up. God bless you Mr.Coverdale.

Sorry but after slide it in Whitesnakewas never the same. 87' album was much better as Sykes fit in better but the slide it in line up was best ever! of course Coverdale is great & some material is awesome but most is just not the best & I bought this for the bonus tracks and videos. Vai as great as he is did not fit & it's almost unbearable to listen to these solos of speed if your not impressed by that sort of thing. I'm not. I think Coverdale is great as he proved with the new Whitesnake lineup and album Bad to the Bone so if your looking where to start I say anything from the early days to slide it in then the new album. Whitesnake is still great but this wasn't the best.

I will start off by saying in 1990, Whitesnake was the first concert I saw w/out adult supervision. Me and my frinds all went alone, and we all loved the Slip of the Tongue cassette (no CD's back then for us!!). I was totally excited when I saw this come out...with live footage of some of my favorite songs from the album...The re-mastering is really well done. It sounds great. The problem is I realized some of these songs dont hold up so well 20 years later. There are some fillers...althought there are still some great songs...Slip of the Tongue, Sailing Ships, Judgement Day, all great songs...Now Your Gone, Slow Poke Music, and even Kittens Got Claws, not so much. BUT, still a great CD. Now, the extras...The live stuff on the CD is decent (with the exception of the horrid opening line Coverdale says before Slip of the Tongue "Here's one For Ya..."...makes me laugh every time I hear it). The DVD I have the biggest problem with. It has 3 videos, but some of the live performances dont have Steve Vai...One is an acoustic "Sailing Ships" w/ I think Adrian Vandenberg, "Judgemant Day" from like 2008, and the 2 songs w/ Vai is way over produced, dosent even look like a concert footage. Different camera styles, some slow motion, kinda poor quality, no shots of the crowd at all. Not really something I would re-watch. Too bad, I was totally looking forward to seeing Live Whitesnake w/ Vai. Overall, if you like the original and want a much better sounding CD, buy this. If just buying for the extra's, I would save my $$.
