5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the original, not the re-release.
Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet is easily one of the top five albums of the 1980's. There is absolutely no filler at all on Slippery, it's all upbeat, good-time rock 'n' roll music that makes you yearn for the days of spandex and high-top reebok sneakers.

In my opinion, Slippery When Wet is Bon Jovi's finest hour. Some fans may argue for New Jersey or Keep The...

I agree that this "new" re releases are just a waste of money, so save it!
I would imagine that only collectors would like to buy them, because most fans have previous versions already, but what's new with these ones? Nothing! It would be still worth it if the live tracks were never previously released, something really new, but why spend more money to have the Wanted (album version) and Wanted (live)?
They entice fans with the "vault" content, but... inside are pictures and one more song, that you can listen to, but if you want it, you have to pay more. Each CD has the key to a different one, so if you want to see what else is there, you have to buy ALL the CDs. Money making idea at it's best!

If someone is interested in real "new" content, I totally recommend the Box Set (100 million fans can't be wrong), released in 2004, with 4 CDs (rare and never before released tracks) and 1 DVD.

One more detail, there seem to be 2 different types of packaging offered with these CDs, a hard cardboard cover and the usual plastic cases. The advertised backstage passes ONLY come with the cardboard ones, (more expensive in price I believe), so... Beware.

3.0 out of 5 stars Extras are ok but..., March 12, 2011
This review is from: Slippery When Wet: Special Edition (Audio CD)
The new release of 10 Bon Jovi albums is nice for the consumer who already doesn't own the 1999 Bon Jovi Remasters CD's. Some extra live tracks, new booklets and access to some bonus material on bonjovi.com aren't enough reason for me to "Rebuy" these Cd's. The 1999 Remasters sound alot better and have song lyrics included! A money- making ploy no doubt, gotta love it!

Some fans may argue for New Jersey or Keep The Faith, and in all honesty those records are awesome, but Slippery When Wet is second to none on any level. Bon Jovi took their song writing to a whole new level with this album, which is why i'm sure the album is miles above their other work, but the biggest difference between this and their previous albums is the production. The production on Slippery is top notch and it easily makes this album shine. My favorite tracks from the album are Raise Your Hands, Livin' On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, Without Love and Wild In The Streets round out the list.

I highly reccommend this record, as if you could'nt tell that by my review. Bon Jovi is not my favorite band from the 80's, but Slippery When Wet is one of my favorite albums from the genre for sure. Another note about this release is Bon Jovi re-released this album in 2010 with extra tracks. The songs are all previously released, and are all live, so i'm guessing either Bon Jovi, or their record company is trying to make a fast buck here.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't have it, buy it, May 26, 2011
This review is from: Slippery When Wet (MP3 Download)
This is a kick ass album. And I have listened to some of the greatest albums in rock history like The Dark Side of the Moon, Led Zeppelin IV, Who's Next, Appetite For Destruction, and Black and Black and yet this one still remains my favorite album. Every song is a killer from the opening keyboard solo to "Let It Rock" to the final chorus of "Wild In The Streets". If you are debating right now to spend $5 (An awesome price) for this killer album, buy the album. It is worth every penny.

This was the only Bon Jovi recording that my wife did not already own, and a special edition so I bought it as a gift. It worked perfectly, if you're a married man, you'll know what I mean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, September 1, 2010

This edition is wonderful. Tracks are written in little bit heavier mode. I mean that you can hear bass-guitar perfectly not like on Crossroad version. I took it as a present for my brother but I like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slip 'N' Slide, May 19, 2010
This review is from: Slippery When Wet: Special Edition (Audio CD)
Slippery When Wet is the album that propelled Jon Bon Jovi and his bandmates from open act to major league headliners. Often they are dismissed as a 80's hair metal band, admittingly there is nothing on this album that will make you forget Springsteen or the Beatles, but it is unfair to lump them in with that genre. Although they had the look down (big hair, torn jeans etc.), unlike the other bands, they actually have a good ear for a melody and wrote good songs. Songs like the number one hits "You Give Love A Bad Name" & "Livin' On A Prayer" show their diversity. The former is a straight ahead rocker and the latter a moody number. "Wanted Dead Or Alive" is a classic rock epic that aspires for greatness. Lesser known songs like "I'd Die For You", "Social Disease" & "Raise Your Hands" are solid songs. The lyrics sometimes fall into tired cliche terrority and the music is a little too slick in places, you have give the band an A for effort and genuiness. The album is just good fun.
