My 7 year old daughter is in a "fun book" stage. First, she fell in love with Drum, Chavi, Drum! (she still has to read it every night) and now with Slithery Jake. If you want your child to laugh outloud, get her/him these two books. You won't regret it. These are by far the most fun books in her collection.

Slithery Jake is slimy snake fun!

As a parent, you'll want to read this book aloud to your child over and over again. The wacky rhymes roll off the tongue to a child's delight and the illustrations will keep your child giggling throughout the story. This book is so well written that I had to write a review!

Rose-Marie Provencher's Slithery Jake is an amusing picture book story brought to life with Abby Carter's watercolor illustrations. Sid is a young boy who brings home a snake as a pet. But then the snake escapes! Where in the world could that snake be? Slithery Jake is commended as a thoroughly charming and entertainingly upbeat picture book, featuring exaggerated action and comedy, and quite fun to read aloud.

Great story I heard reviewed on NPR a few years back. Easy for our nearly 6 year old niece to read. Wonderful rhymes introduce poetry to a young audience! Add a stuffed snake to the book to make a fun gift for any elementary age child!

This cute little book can be enjoyed by children and adults. It's fun to read to the little ones and easy to read for those just learning.
