A must read for the collector of slot machines,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Slot Machines (Style Manuals) (Board book)
If you are a collector of slot machines, then this is a book you must read. Ladwig combines a set of stunning photographs of classic machines with brief explanations of the manufacturer. Since anti-gambling laws have been very strict, many of the machines skirted the rules by dispensing items such as bubble gum and cigarettes in a random manner. From the photos, you can see why people would collect them, cleaned and polished; many of them are works of art. Their eye-catching qualities were no doubt essential to their success, for the first thing you must do when enticing a gambler is to catch their eye. Without electricity to run the flashing lights, this was done by the coloration and the structure.
