Still missing 'the' sparkle,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Slow Attack (Audio CD)
Since he left Suede, Brett gave us four albums (three on his own), and in all we miss the old times Brett. Not that he has lost qualities (his voice, although slightly different, still amuses and can not me mistaken with anything else; the lyrics follow the same line up, for better or worse) but, as the times goes by, is becomes clear that Brett needs an all time band so that he can explore everything that he have to offer. All his albums are quite depressant, and without a real sparkle to light it up. The Tears had Butler and, even so, they didn't quite reached what they had previously done with Suede. And even if I didn't want a Brett's album to sound like a Suede album, I would like to feel that in his albums Brett doesn't seem to know where the light is anymore. 3 stars for the album, and 4 in the final because Frozen Roads is a great piece of music that would be even greater if there was more chilli in the rest.

Lush, Beautiful....moving,
By Logan Matthews (Indianapolis, Indiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Slow Attack (Audio CD)
Brett is in rare form. Although I love Suede's uptempo rockers like New Generation, nothing is more beautiful and haunting as his heartfelt voice over these minimalistic tracks. This latest effort is sure to become a treasured piece of art. Too bad there are not more than 5 stars to rate this masterpiece.
