Book Description

NASCAR Library Collection September 1, 2009
And the winner is…

Dana Johnson? What? Turns out Dana's friend secretly entered her in the contest to win a dinner date with NASCAR driver Braden James. Burned by her former fiancé, Dana isn't exactly eager to be swept off her feet by someone who'll disappear after dessert. She tells Braden he's off the hook, but he says they're on. His sponsor—a matchmaking Web site—is counting on him. And he's counting on her to swoon on cue for the cameras. Not too difficult—Braden is much more than just a gorgeous hotshot. A foster-care kid who's seen his share of hard knocks, he's driven head-on through heartache and triumph. But when the last flashbulb pops, will their slow burn ignite into a very real romance?

About the Author

With over a million books in print, Pamela Britton likes to call herself the best known author nobody’s ever heard of. Of course, that’s begun to change thanks to a certain licensing agreement with that little racing organization known as NASCAR.  But before the glitz and glamour of NASCAR, Pamela wrote books that were frequently voted the best of the best by The Detroit Free Press, Barnes & Noble (two years in a row) and RT BOOKclub Magazine.

More About the Author

I'm the thirty-something author of seventeen romance novels (with many more on the way) for such publishers as Avon Books, HarperCollins and AOL TimeWarner. Currently, I'm having a lot of fun writing about NASCAR for HQN books.

When not writing, believe it or not, I like to read. Since I find it hard to read within my own genre, I like to peruse mainstream fiction in my spare time. My favorite authors are Koontz, Corbin, and Marian Keyes.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book fell somewhat short, March 9, 2011

I usually can't wait to finish a Pamela Britton book, but this on fell short for me. I felt that Pamela inserted her reader into the chracters stories too quickly. The story felt like it had yet to be edited, as in it was 'skeleton', and the flesh of the story wasn't filled in yet. The lead-ins from scene to scene in the book were confusing at best. And the intentions and reasoning of the characters was unclear most times.

I do have to give the author props for coming up with a basic story that was good and had potential. I was just disappointed with the finished product. Don't let this discourage you from reading her other books though. They are all MUCH better than this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Win a date with a sexy car driver?!?!! I'd be so all over it!!! haha, August 3, 2010

Dana Johnson enters a contest in which you win a date with sexy NASCAR driver Braden James, and wins! Braden is inmediately attracted to her, and although she's trying to get out of going on a date with him, he will do anything to get some time alone with her.

Pamela Britton doesn't write a romance novel that makes you think you've eaten too much sweet stuff, she writes witty characters, funny situation that makes the novel believable. The first scene, in which Braden is looking at her, and he's kidding around with Dana just killed me!!

I devour every book Pamela Britton writes, I also love spin offs, so be sure to read the rest! :)

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Fairytale like - even for me...., September 30, 2009

This review is from: Slow Burn (NASCAR Library Collection) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am not a NASCAR fan but I really enjoy this genre of books. They tend to be PG-13 and with romance and NASCAR mixed together. This story is about abused women who wins a date with NASCAR driver Braden James. He falls for her at first sight and takes on all her problems - a Knight in Shining Armor. It was Ok and this author is excellent writer so that helps with the plot and female character Dana that just didn't like. If you are looking for sweet story with a NASCAR theme I would read it - but if you are looking for more conflict and meaty characters I would skip.

If you like this genre I would suggest; On The Move (Harlequin Nascar) and To The Limit (Nascar Library Collection). She has a new NASCAR Book due out September 2010. She also writes Historical Romance in the past and now has new series due out Lord Shameless (Lords of Silverton - Book I) -- January 2010 ,Lord Notorious (Lord of Silverton - Book II) -- March 2010 & Lord of Desire (Lords of Silverton-Book III) -- May 2010 -- off to check out more by this author...
