When my wife told me that we were taking Slow Dance lessons, I was a bit apprehensive. I've never really been that comfortable on the dance floor. However, my concerns started to go away when she showed me that we would be learning and practicing in the privacy of our home with the Shawn Trautman Slow Dancing for Beginners DVD Collection. We listened to the DVD lessons a few times. It is great that when she or I had questions, we could simply stop, rewind and practice at our own pace. Shawn Trautman explains steps and moves in an easy-to-understand, confident manner.

We actually ventured out to a public event last weekend -- a somewhat formal charity event. To everyone's surprise (especially my own), both my wife and I were awesome on the dance floor! Unlike the old days, where I would slink into the corner when the music started, I confidently asked my wife to dance all night long. Both of us even found ourselves asking others to dance -- and offered them little tips along the way (forgive us Shawn for borrowing some of those!). We are both actually looking forward to going to more events where we can "show our stuff" on the dance floor. For these reasons, I whole-heartedly recommend the Shawn Trautman Slow Dancing for Beginners and rate it Five Stars!

My fiance and I are getting married in May, so we decided that we should try to learn to slow dance (I've always hated seeing people sway back and forth). I got this DVD because it was affordable and seemed to be pretty simple. Overall, the DVD is very helpful but I wish that they would've had newer music so that we could've gotten a feel for what it would be like to dance to regular slow music. I also wish that they would've focused on the feet more, and explained how small or large a step should be. My fiance is definitely dancing-challenged so sometimes he got frustrated when he'd have to stare at Shawn's feet to figure out how he was turning so quickly. The DVD was almost too fast on the more difficult things, and took way too long on the simple side to side steps. I would recommend Slow Dancing for Beginners though, since it did help us quite a bit.

I found these 2 DVD's to be a great starting point for learning how to dance. First, dance foot positions are explained. Next, connection points are expalined. These serve as a foundation for all dances.

Furthermore, the dance moves(i.e. Lunge, underarm turns) that were explained could apply to many different dances. Also, there was an excellent review at the end of each DVD to summarize what was taught.

This DVD seies would be a great place to start if one has never danced before.

My husband and I are not very good dancers (we just don't do it very often at all) so, in order to prepare for a family wedding, we got this DVD and it helped tremendously. They went through all the steps and made it very easy to understand and mimic. They even put music on so we could practice with them and see how it would look with music. We didn't realize how much we would like dancing and we attribute that Shawn and Joanna's wonderful teaching style. Loved it!!!

Slow Dancing for Beginners, vol 1, has been the best investment my wife and I have made. We have wanted to learn how to dance for quite a long time, but it always got pushed on to the back burner, with raising a family, career and whatnot. The kids are grown. My wife and I are enjoying our empty nest and re-discovering what it means to be intimate. Finding Shawn & Joanna Trautman's dance videos on Amazon helped us immensely. We are becoming more intimate with each other and learning to dance in the process! The instruction is very clear and easy to follow. Shawn & Joanna break the dance down and teach it step by step. It's so easy to follow along. We are looking forward to buying many more of the Trautman's DVD's. We enjoyed the video very much and have learned alot. S. Trautman's videos are well done and the timing is great.

We were completely satisfied with Shawn's slow dancing dvds and we'll definitely be back for more.

My wife and I used this DVD to prepare for our daughter's wedding reception. We've never done more than the sway back and forth until now. The lessons were easy to follow and we quickly learned enough to have fun and look good on the dance floor. For a change, dancing was fun and I was confident. We have ordered other DVDs from Shawn Trautman now and can't wait till they arrive. Quick delivery of a GREAT PRODUCT!!!

it's hard to make something like a lesson on slow dancing really fun and interesting. I'm not a fan of the instructors, but you know...well...they aren't THAT bad. The sound quality isn't the best. But in lieu of going to private lessons, well, we got through our first dance, didn't we?
