Dolly's 1993 album SLOW DANCING WITH THE MOON is another album that was sorely underlooked. While it might not be as strong as WHITE LIMOZEEN, it's a beautiful album filled with great songs and top notch talent. "Romeo" is a fun take on the traditional Shakespeare play Romeo & Juliet, it joins Dolly with Billy Ray Cyrus, Mary Chapin Carpetner, Kathy Mattea, Pam Tillis and Tanya Tucker. Sadly this was the only "hit" from the album, however failed to crack the top 10, resting at #27. "Full Circle" is a nice ballad, about a long standing relationship. "(You Got Me Over) A Heartache Tonight" is a duet with Dolly & Billy Dean, a really sweet song, a favorite of mine from the album. "More Where That Came From" is a honky tonk, nice to hear Dolly tear it up on a song like this. Dolly does a rousing rendition of the upbeat "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" as well. "I'll Make Your Bed" is a nice quirky song as well. "What Will Baby Be", "Cross My Heart" and "Why Can't We" are all tender, romantic ballads. "Whenever Forever Comes" joins Dolly with Collin Raye on a duet, nice song overall, they compliment each other extremely well. The best track though is the title track, a beautiful ballad, classic Dolly Parton. The album closes with a great rendition of "High And Mighty". Overall SLOW DANCING WITH THE MOON is a beautiful album all the way through, don't overlook it, give it a listen.

What can you say about Dolly Parton. She is full of many colors, like her favorite creature, the butterfly. Like this album. Full Circle. Not a great Dolly song, but I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this one. Where are we in this relationship? Romeo? It is a woman's song showing freedom, sexuality and equality.Have you everbeen out in a club and overheard someone say,"I wish I had a swing like that in my backyard." Here it is in it's original form. I thank Dolly for "You Got Me Over a Heartache Tonight." I've been there many times. In the bed of a stranger trying to get over my heartache. Very romantic. Very beautiful. You've thought these words before. "More Where That Came From" is possibly Dolly's best up beat country songs. A very Lousiana feel. "What Will Baby Be?" Play this song for somebody who just slapped their child for hitting their sibling. "Why Can't We" A plea for universal acceptance. This is what the bible tells us to do, but nobody does. "I'll Make Your Bed" is a fluffy, three sister style song from the 1940s, so you'd think. Very cute. I woke up one morning to "Whenever Forever Comes" I was in heaven and was at my most peaceful moment ever. I've listened to it before, but this time, I got it. "Slow Dancing with the Moon" A beautiful, whispery song of lost beauty, loneliness and fantasy. A perfect blend of music and vocals. At times, they are the same."High and Mighty" I don't belive in God or religions, but this makes me feel as if I could. Dolly always makes you feel that there is a God because she belives so strongly. If you've ever seen a movie with a scene in a small southern, baptist church where everyone gets up singing and dancing, you will be in that movie with this song. When it's over, you'll turn around and wonder where everybody went. Although there are a couple of weak spots, the other parts definitely make up for it, but be ready for an emotional rollercoaster. You'll be laughing, loving, crying and thinking.

Love this CD. Great price for some great music! My favorite song is ROMEO, it brings back alot of good childhood memories. SLOW DANCING WITH THE MOON is awesome too. This is one of Dolly's best and a must have for all fans, and even for lovers of 90's Country music!

This is one of Dolly's less successful albums from the 90's, only spawning one real hit, the duet Romeo which includes a array of country singers as guest stars. The album is stunning though, with some of her best music. The album has a lot of guest artists, who have nothing but good things to say about Dolly in the liner notes of the album booklet. These guests include Billy Dean, Trisha Yearwood, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, Billy Ray Cyrus, Collin Raye, Kathy Mattea and much more! However the guest artists do not take away from the music, as there is plenty of Dolly here! The album lasts for 12 tracks, which are some of her best songs. Favorites include You Got Me Over (A Heartache Tonight) (with Billy Dean), Full Circle, Slow Dancing With THe Moon, and the remake of Put A Little Love In Your Heart. All of the songs are classic though. I highly reccomend it!

Beginning in 1993 Dolly Parton suddenly found that she was having a hard time getting radio airplay. She was the last of the old-time Nashville stars who did get airplay, but newer stars started getting heard more on country music radio at the start of the '90's. It had nothing to do with Dolly as an artist: beginning with "Slow Dancing With The Moon" Miss Parton continued releasing top-notch records and her writing continued to excel. However, Columbia, her record label, thought it wisely if Dolly would cut songs on this release featuring some of the newer singers that dominated the airways. People like Billy Ray Cyrus, Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, and Billy Dean provided vocals on many of the songs, but still the singles released didn't go anywhere. The album would be Dolly's last blockbuster record, however, selling over a million copies and proving that although Dolly was no longer on the radio she had a distinct fanbase who loved her.
Three singles were released from this collection- "Romeo", "More Where That Came From" (that would be used in a Target commercial in 2008), and "Full Circle". The highlight of "Slow Dancing With The Moon" is Dolly's reworking of the 1960's Jackie DeShannon classic "Put A Little Love in Your Heart" that Dolly debut on the 1992 CMA Awards show.

I love the blend of songs in this album. You can sit and relax through many songs, but some, such as "More Where that Came From"
you can dance around with the beat. The title track, "Slow Dancing With The Moon" is so beautiful I can't describe it. I'm never tired of it.

Being one of those people who didn't follow Dolly Parton's career over the decades, I have been discovering what she has done. Like many, I of course knew a few of her classics,but never realised how many wonderful songs she has done, written and sung or covered, many of which have been ignored or underestimated and which are as good if not better than those she is famous for. I guess that's what comes from being such a prolific songwriter, over 4000 to her name. It has been a great pleasure and real surprise going back to get some of her earlier records/cds and listen to them. This CD from 1993 is really great and did not disappoint. Here is a classic blend of pop, light rock, celtic, gospel and pure country, she shows her talent as solo artist, songwriter, singer with two, three, four and more. The Mighty Fine band are in mighty form, but she is also accompanied by Chet Atkins, Tany Tucker, Billy Ray,Vince Gill, Billy Dean,Emmy Lou, Pam Tillis,A.Krauss, Kathy Mattea, Maura O connell to name a few. The title song SLOW DANCING WITH THE MOON, written by Mac Davis, is a gem, you have to hear it to understand, but it is beautiful, she sings it perfectly. Her own song WHAT WILL BABY BE, is one of the finest celtic/country soulful pieces I have ever heard.Also her own, I'LL MAKE YOUR BED, is a real special song and lovely melody, Chet's accompanying guitar is special. ROMEO, the most well known is a fun, rocky number. I really liked, CROSS MY HEART, written by R.Dennison her sister, R.Parton, her brother and Frank Dycus. I could go on, I would just tell you, go listen to it. There is one song FULL CIRCLE, written and sung by Dolly,which is surprising for lyrics. While being a good song, is not the best track of the album, but is particularly interesting for its words. I think it is one of the songs that comes closest to expressing her feeligs towards her husband Carl Dean, and for that, it is an unashamedly transparent and revealing song.
Loved the CD, haven't tired of it yet.

Definitely a good CD if you don't want to listen to just Dolly alone. Love her duets with the other vocalists.

I would have to say this was well worth the purchase, I have been a Dolly Parton fan since I was a child. And this has some of her greatest songs. I definitely recommend it if you are as big a fan of her as I am!

I had the cassette to this album and let someone borrow it and never got it back so I bought the cd since I don't have a cassette player anymore. But this a a very good cd and has alot of song's on it that I like.
