I became aware of this book through an article in the e-Magazine of the British Interplanetary Society.
At once I had to have it and placed an order through Amazon. It turned up in the mail one Friday as I was on the way to a rock concert, so naturally I took it with me. Once I started to read I could not put it down.
Professor Perkowitz provides a clear and concise explanation of the many strange and wonderful properties of light as encountered in the physical world and as used in the science fiction genre, with crossover between the two.
The writng is not too technical but is backed up by comprehensive reference listiing.
I would highly recommend this book to any with an interest in the sciences.
