My Oh My It's A Miracle !,

The songs on this album are mini masterpieces that explore the enigmatic and emotional experiences of deeply loving another. The title track, "Slow Love" speaks to an appreciation of the fullness and richness of a love, that despite relationship challenges along the way, like a fine wine...just gets better with age. The rest of the songs are stories about life challenges, high and low moments, emotions and feelings that so often influence the outcome of love's journey.
I like the title tract very much..it is a great slow jam dance number. But these six songs are my very favorites: "A Woman Crossed in Love", about the "catch 22" of living up to committments to trust, truth, and honesty, when issues of infidelity are involved. "Down with Love" which likens love to a serious medical affliction. It is also a remake of an uptempo synth version from the "Big Dreamers.." album. This funky, jazzed, remake is soooooo superior to the original. When I bought this CD it was quite a while before I even realized that this version was that same song. The damage verbal conflicts cause in relationships is explored in "Words Can Kill"; "Lost and Found" extols the power of love to heal and inspire; "Oh My It's a Miracle" rhapsodizes the sheer joy of loving; and the uptempo, jazzed, "Alive by Science" uses wry, witty lyrics to talk about a very serious subject...loving someone enough in the face of death to be able to let them go. Even though they are not favorite songs, "Tierras De Amores Y Sombras" (a latin guitar serenade about passion and love), "Cry Baby" (love gone terribly wrong), and "Constantly Constantine" (lovesickness to the point of self-destruction), are so terrific I never fast forward. There is no really bad song on this CD. Gino's magical music, and silky, sensual, sometimes sassy vocals, tell stories about the ebb and flow and nuance of love. The result is an album that engages the listener to comtemplate, feel, and explore the richness of their own experiences. This wonderful album is indeed a little miracle and misses being my very favorite Gino masterpiece by a whisker.

A Master Records A Masterpiece,

OK, I'm a Gino fan. I remember being a kid and the radio playing People Gotta Move while I shot hoops in the driveway. And then in college a friend saw my Gino albums (1978) and excitedly announced he had an extra ticket to Gino's concert in Atlanta. Wow!!! Gino Vannelli music has earned a permenant place in my library. There's a couple that sit dusty in the back. Yonder Tree is not one of them. And neither is this work. Slow Love may well be Gino's best. It is a subtle work, and it's possibly his most innovative. His maturity comes to rest on a wonderful, engaging piece of work. The most delicate and intricate pieces blend with Gino's voice to make a deliciously rich and emotionally deep musical experience. You get the sense of carefully constructed restrain and discipline practiced with a love and passion. And resulting in a very intimate work. Some other reviews here talk about the particular tracks. I'm more interested in making the point that when your musical tastes become refined there is Gino. Like no other, able to bring you an experience you didn't imagine existed. There's Gino. And Slow Love is absolutely the best. It stands alone. Timeless.

Gino is getting older as you can hear on this new gem. The warmth is still there and emotional feeling that he brings to his music. I have been a Gino Vannelli fan since the very first album "Crazy Life" and hearing many different Gino recordings through his 30 years in the business and you hear a musician who has matured in his life. Songs I liked, Lost And Found, Down With Love(which is also found on his album, "Big Dreamers Never Sleep"), and "A Woman Crossed In Love". Pick it up, and enjoy!!!!!!

This is one fantastic CD from an incredibly gifted artist. Every thing Gino Vannelli does is of the highest quality, far beyond most musicians. Stand outs include Slow Love, Lost and Found, Down with Love, and Alive by Science. A must for any music lover.

So Who is Constantine, anyway ?,

A pleasant surprise (only because so many artists who are "more mature" are coming out with the same old music, and trying to simply re-create their old song -how boring !) since this CD offers a wonderful mix of interesting tracks with clever lyrics, great jazz sounds and vocals which are (somehow) better-!- than ever before. How do you do it, Mr. Vannelli ? At first I wasn't so sure about this CD- I mean, I instantly loved, "Slow Love" and "A Woman Crossed in Love" (very traditional stuff) but as I played and re-played this, I began to discover the nuances and enjoyed the variety. "Lost and Found" is now my fav song on the release. But who the heck is Constantine, anyway ???

Since the 70's Gino Vannelli has been refining his music and voice which lead to this extraordinary piece of work. Not only is the lyrics outstanding but the music is superb

If you fell in love with his music listening to "Brother to Brother", this one is as close as it gets to it. Gino's come of age. He repeatedly takes as away into the depts of his emotions and creativity. A constant joy.Alex Mikic

Gino hits the spot once again....After the wonderful "Yonder Tree" you'd expect a crisis of creativity:luckily this beautiful cd is the proof the Gino has just reached his musical maturity. Perfect mellow romantic beautifully arranged and wonderfully sang gems displayed here. My personal preferences go to A woman crossed with love, Cry baby, Words can kill... Great Lori Perri (love her voice on backing vocals), great Brock Walsh songs... A must, don't miss it...

Another Gino Vannelli Masterpiece,
By A Customer
This review is from: Slow Love (Audio CD)
Being a long time fan of Gino Vannelli, I must say that this newest release is fabulous! While it is more mellow than some of his previous works, the music and his voice are more complex. This is a very romantic album and is worth listening to over and over. We have been given yet another masterpiece from an extremely gifted artist!!!

I am also a long-time Gino fan, but this one disappoints. The orchestrations and Gino's vocals are lovely, but the CD lacks the classic Vannelli passion and creativity.
