Almost from the beginning, Tuesday is very unlikable. She calls herself snarky, but that's not the word for it. She is also struggling with turning to alcohol to solve her problems. At one point when she isn't getting what she wants from Diesel, she threatens to go start drinking. He backs down. Another time she wakes up with a hangover, having passed out the night before. They are, unbelievably, ready for some morning action anyway. When Tuesday wants to get up and brush her rank smelling teeth, Diesel tells her no. He doesn't want her tasting like mint, but her regular self. Yuck! She's also a totally rude talking person - "I feel look/feel like ass" type of conversation.

There is lots of sex, which would be ok, but McCarthy doesn't give us anything else to feel good about this relationship. Also, why does everyone feel it's ok to talk to them about their sex lives, including the little old lady sitting next to them at a party? After a month of this unhealthy stuff, they are in love. Wish we could know the nicer people that would have made this a good romance.

Last, has McCarthy ever heard of safe sex? It seems everyone is going without protection to fulfill her plot lines. "I'm clean" isn't true just because they think it's so. One woman has unprotected sex with two guys in a couple of days, ending up pregnant by which one? Of course, one of those guys turns around to marry another woman pretty quickly. He then is devastated when the other woman finds the baby isn't his. Yuck again.

The ending is taken care of quickly in a matter of pages, without us seeing the person Tuesday "would like to be". If you really have to read it, then try the library.

Was this book written by someone other than Erin McCarthy?? The first chapter or two was cute and was setting up to be a really great story. And then it juts went downhill...at least for me.

The dialogue between Diesel and Tuesday was just weird...it wasn't sexy...it was just weird. And the dialogue between Diesel and everyone else was weird...He had NO voice, or he said things that I didn't think a guy like him would say...and his guy friends sounded like girls!!

For someone who LOVED the whole series so far, I was SOOOOOO disappointed with Slow Ride. There was no REAL conflict....she drank too much (which made me like her less...she seemed like a real bitch) and he was just blah. And for me to have NO CONNECTION to either of the characters is huge...I love romance and can normally find the best in all books...but this one...I skimmed through the last 35% of the Kindle Book.

The best part of the book was seeing Ryder and Suzanne interact with their baby. They seemed really happy. And all the Evan/Kendall crap with Sara and the maybe, baby...was so unneccessary.

All in all...this book was a mumble/jumble of BLAH!!

I want Erin McCarthy back.....I hope she comes back before the release of Eve's book!!

When I finished this book i felt like I still didn't know very much about the main characters Tuesday and Diesel, and they didn't know very much about each other as well. The book was entertaining, the sex scenes were enjoyable, but the romance seemed a little strained. Tuesday meets Daniel at her father's funeral then again at her best friends wedding. Both times she is not herself, the first meeting she is torn up with grief, the second meeting she gets so drunk Diesel has to bring her home. But after one real date, they are in bed and after a few weeks they are in love. Neither character seems able to really talk about their feelings and express their grief, Tuesday for her father and Diesel for his racing career. They have a whirlwind romance, quickly falling in love, but both have serious problems that they choose to ignore. When they finally have it out and call each other out on the things that bother them, they don't talk it out, they just argue and break up. Then after weeks of no contact they meet up, apologize, tell each other "I love you" get engaged and live happily ever after. I don't feel like there was any real resolution to this couple's problems. There is a quick mention of Tuesday getting counseling for her drinking and Diesel getting over his fear of driving again, but their is nothing that they work on together to resolve.

Three and half stars, I tipped it to 4 for the Amazon rating. Fresh writing and perspective but I didn't like the female protagonist, Tuesday; she was selfish, sarcastic, coarse, and obnoxious. Sometimes that can work for a character but there has to be a reveal early in the book to show her likable or vulnerable side. I realize Tuesday was going through emotional upheavals and wasn't herself but McCarthy didn't give any real insight into Tuesday's true nature that might have made her more likable and might have made the reader feel some compassion for her rather than wanting to say "Run like heck Diesel!".

I didn't get enough character depth for the male protagonist, Diesel, to love him. I think I liked him but didn't have enough info to go on. More about how he looked (other than his long hair) or the elements of his life that contributed to the person he became would have been beneficial. At one point Diesel had brown eyes, then back to blue; uh oh, some editor is not doing their job.

Tuesday just lost her father to sudden cancer. At the end of the funeral she chases her hat and ends up in front of a man,Diesel, she bursts into tears and he holds her and comforts her. At her friend's wedding she figures out who it was, Diesel, ex race driver. He had a near fatal crash 2 years earlier. He's internalized the pain, anger, and loss of esteem from the event that ended his career. She handles her emotional pain by drinking.

Spoiler alert for the rest of this review.

He drives her home from the wedding because she's smashed. He puts her to bed and leaves. They continue to see each other; having great sex and little fights about her drinking and they both have control issues.
