An all-round great album, November 23, 2002
This review is from: Slowed Down (Audio CD)
I was introduced to Kemopetrol by a friend. I actually just sat there, silently, and listened "slowed down" from start to finnish. I couldn't believe that as a Finn, I had never heard of this band before. It's one of my favorite chill-out/rock/funk albums because it's really like no other band ive heard. Each song is different in its own way and yet each song is equally as good. Overall, its just a cd you wont get sick of and you can listen to over and over again (trust me, I have). Of the two albums Kemopetrol has released, i would definetely recomment this one. I think their "sound" is more evident in Slowed Down, although the other album is still worth buying.

This an album you'll still listen to years later, October 15, 2002
This review is from: Slowed Down (Audio CD)
I bought this album after hearing it on a listening station at a FNAC in Barcelona. I bought the CD on a whim not realizing why the group name sounded familiar. The next night I had tickets to see Hooverphonic in concert and it turned out that Kemopetrol was opening. They played all 10 songs off the then newly released album. I thought they kicked Hooverphonic's *ss! The album has become one of my all time favorites. I can't wait till the new album comes out! If you like a good combination of rock, pop, funk, trance, and dance all wrapped together with sleak vocals and lots of style--get this album. You won't regret it!

Stunningly powerful debut, August 19, 2002
This review is from: Slowed Down (Audio CD)
This awesome record was finnish band Kemopetrol's debut LP and it is absolutely brilliant.Fortunately I live in Finland and saw them play a free(!) gig in my home town 2 days ago. Their singer Laura is something else, a gorgeous young woman and an amazing singer too! Anyway, with this cd they quickly became one of Finland's greatest bands. It's filled with great, dynamic music from the beautiful piano & Laura duet "View of the sea" to raw, distorted guitars of "Drown little girl". Now they have released a second album called "Everything's fine", which immediatly took number 1 place of the finnish official album chart. It should be available outside Finland later and when it is, get it - it's great too!
