Our cats love this mat and it's cheaper (and probably safer) than the plug-in kind. I added a photograph to this product page, showing three of our Maine Coons (about 40 pounds of feline pulchritude) heaped together on their thermal mat. They (the mats, not the cats) are a cinch to wash, too.

If you object to cat hair on your furniture, cover your cushions with these mats. Your cats will appreciate that extra bit of reflected body heat, and you won't have so much vacuuming to do.

This is a wonderful item that your cat will love. I originally purchased a thermal mat from another website (more expensive with a pattern that I didn't like). My 3 cats fought over who would get to sleep on it, so I did a search and when I found this one, I ordered one for each of them. This cat mat has been such a hit with my furfaces and is such a great deal that I just ordered 3 more, for my dad, sister and a friend to give to their cats. I've seen similar thermal cat mats for $50+. The pattern that appears on the super soft side is a dark green with subtle black leopard print and the other side is black faux-sheepskin. My cats like both sides. You can throw them in the washing machine and fur doesn't stick to the smooth patterned side, which is nice. Of all of the cat beds I have purchased, including a heated window-mounted bed that plugged into the wall, this mat is my kitties' favorite thing to sleep on.

We adopted a feral cat and bought this thermal mat because it can get cold in the garage (which is where she lives). It makes a tiny bit of crinkling noise when stepped on, but she wasn't bothered by the sound at all (even though she is feral and still a bit skittish). The mat is made of plush, cozy fabric and is machine washable. Our cat loves the mat and hardly leaves it on days that are a bit chilly. It seems to really work because she also has a pet bed and a bed made out of blankets in the garage and she seems to prefer her mat. Definitely worth the price.

Very soft and larger than I thought. The dimensions were listed, so it was my mis-calculation. The cats love the crinkle sound. Adequately padded. I bought 2 of these for the furballs to sit on the ledge and look out the window in the winter. Last year they sat there and their paws were as cold as ice... I know, they are animals. But, I bought these to keep them cozy and warm while they gaze at the birds, chipmunks, etc. Nice blue color, very deep. Not cheap looking.

My cat loves this mat. It really reflects body heat. It's also machine washable. In fact, it's so warm that I put over it my feet when our cat is elsewhere. It's better than a heating pad!

We (or rather, our cat) has had this mat for over two years. She tends to get cold readily and usually sleeps some or all of the night with us. But the rest of the night, and much of every day, she is on the mat. So we figure it must be warming her. She really seems to like it.

The mat does make little crunching noises when she works it over with her paws before settling into it, but the crunching is not loud, couldn't wake anybody, and is actually sort of pleasant to hear, somehow slightly comical.

It's less garish than it might appear in the photo, not bad at all. After two years, the mat is none the worse for wear.

I can contrast this mat with the SnuggleSafe Heat Pad. While us humans have found that it does a good job of preheating our sheets for our feet in the winter, our cat never seemed to like it at all.

UPDATE: I originally put this review on another place where an Amazon seller has the identical product. I came back today to buy a second mat. Our cat, Bella, used the mat on "her" chair, but as the weather got colder she often chose to sleep on "our" bed, often right in the middle (I call her spot there "Kansas"), which we didn't much like as it was prudishly effective at preventing our spooning. We took her mat from her chair and put it on the bottom of the bed, in, say, south Texas, and, even though the rest of the bed offers the pleasures of a down comforter, she now sleeps down in south Texas, leaving the rest of the country to us.

My two cats fight over "their" thermal cat mat. I bought two, but they have each claimed one. The only other place they like to curl up is on someone's lap, or in the case of the younger cat, on the cable box. I love the fact that there are no wires, so the mats can go on their cat condo or anywhere and we don't have to worry about fires, overheating, or another electical item adding to a high electric bill.

Very nice bed! I bought one for my bunny rabbit and one for my dad's cat for Christmas. My bunny loves to lie on it and will do so for hours. When he finally hops away, where he was lying is very warm. The bed is also quite plush, I was thinking it might just feel like two pieces of fabric sewn together. It's about 3/4 inch thick though. The fabrics on it are nice and soft and look good. While I've not washed it yet, I think it will wash very well. I didn't think the crinkly sound was very loud at all and it doesn't bother my rabbit, who we just rescued and is fairly nervous. My rabbit will be getting a "girlfriend" soon (don't worry, he's been neutered and she will be spayed) and this bed will be plenty big enough for them to lie on together. All in all, I think this was a great buy. It's good quality, was an awesome price and my bunny loves it!

My 3 cats were initially very skeptical, and I think the reason is that this mat is "crinkly". The thermal material inside that warms up is a wee bit noisy when cats step on it. Thus, I set them each on it and sat with them, petting them & talking to them until they felt the warmth. Then they settled right in, and they've been using them (I bought 2 & am now going to buy 1 more!) daily ever since.

My only other complaint is that the mats are a wee small. Again, because they're slightly "stiff/crinkly", when the cat lies on it, the mat's corners curl up a little. If it was larger - more like a blanket - then it would be cozier, I think.

All in all, I highly recommend it - just be prepared to "coach" your cat!

I bought this mat for my cat because she was having surgery on her paw, and
of course I was trying to do everything I could think of to make her more comfortable.
She stuck to it like glue and has now completely recovered from her surgery, however
she still loves her mat and spends 90% of her nap time on it. I highly recommend this
product and the price is great too!
