It is very rare that I buy an album where every track becomes a favorite song - so rare I think I only own 4 or 5 of them - Smack Smash is one of the those albums. It is amazing driving music and you'll be singing along in no time. I first heard this music on an episode of Viva La Bam... and I liked it so much, that I spent the next hour rewinding and listening to the snippet Bam played, and then trying to punch that sentence into Google to find the band. I found the band, and bought the album. I was not disappointed.

This album is incredible. First time I heard about Beatsteaks was watching german mtv. I enjoyed "I don't care as long as you sing". So I bought the cd. It has since then knocked several of my cd's out of rotation. I am back here to buy their previous stuff. Just quit playing around and buy this cd. Seriously I know you will not be disappointed.

punks and rockers, here they go, the beatsteaks. this cd is a must for those who love melodic punk rock. excellents tracks, each one of them a bummer... hand in hand, i don't care as long as you sing... make sure to get that record, of the best german rock act in ages! you won't regret it, promised!

Absolutely worth every penny!! I live in Germany and searched high and low for the album here, and they are native to Germany!! Buy this album, you wont be disappointed! As long as you are buying this album, buy "Living Targets" as well. Good stuff!!!!

I know many of you punk fans are tired of holding your bladders waiting for a new album from your favorite band to drop, tearing through the five layers or protective plastic, and popping that mess in your CD player only to be disappointed from start to finish, except for that one song that sounds like it could be the same band (maybe). Outside of the punk rock world, there are many bands that buck this trend in favor of progression (not selling out, and not being stagnant), such as Radiohead, Beatles, and Pearl Jam to name just a few. But the punk rock world has recently been rediscovered, thanks in part to the increasing popularity of hardcore and metal. Bands don't need to sell out to get attention anymore, Rise Against and Tiger Army are prime examples of this.

The Beatsteaks have by no means stayed stagnant over the years. From 48/49 to their most recent Smack Smash there is an obvious change, but there is one main difference that separates this band, from bands like Tsunami Bomb, and Less Than Jake: while the latter bands have only sold out to receive more attention, the Beatsteaks have only honed their sound to perfection. I know how you guys think punk rock is only a term you use when saying how much more punk rock you are than your friends and/or enemies, but it's also a style of music, and a philosophy for playing it.

If you haven't heard any of their earlier albums, I suggest either shooting yourself in the face, or immediately purchasing these CDs (the only two viable options I can think of at the moment), you will not be disappointed. This album is no different. Indy fans, and punk rock fans alike owe it to themselves to import this album immediately.

This album grows on you so quickly. The only drawback for the album being that it isn't long enough.
