Small Business Windows 98 for Dummies explains Microsoft's latest mass-market operating system from the viewpoint of the small-business owner, emphasizing workgroup collaboration, efficient management, and saving money.

Nelson starts with very basic information about the Windows interface, such as how to drag windows around and send documents to a printer. The author also touches on Internet issues, including how to select an Internet service provider and how to create a Web page with FrontPage Express. (One would like to see more information on selecting a Web page consultant, since it's getting increasingly difficult to self-publish a professional-looking Web page.)

Small Business Windows 98 for Dummies comes into its own when it starts talking about hooking computers together in small networks. Windows 98 excels at this task, and this book clearly explains the details of buying and configuring network hardware. Small business owners, who have other things to think about than technology, will appreciate Nelson's efficient treatment of how to get a workgroup connected. --David Wall

This book is divided into three sections: how to use Windows 98, how to use the web, and how to do business on the Internet. The third part is actually the smallest, but the other sections do emphasize business applications. This is a good book for people just starting a small business and new to Windows 98 and the net, but it may be too rudimentary for entrepreneurs who have been using computers.
