Weight.

It’s a sensitive issue. It’s a tough subject to think about, much less talk about. Part of the reason why it’s so difficult to address is all of the emotion surrounding it.

Think about it.

For a lot of people, talking about weight brings up feelings of guilt, frustration, depression, disappointment, and a whole host of other negative emotions.

Sometimes parents don’t realize the seriousness of a weight problem. Occasionally, it’s because the parents feel helpless with their own weight problem and may not feel capable of helping their child. Most people are fearful of injuring their child further by drawing attention to a weight problem.

Oftentimes parents just don’t know where to begin to get their child’s weight under control.

A lot of frustration comes out of the difficulty in finding quality resources. Doctors are supposed to help with medical problems, but I can tell you that I’m disappointed in myself and others in this area. There just isn’t enough time in one or two office visits to provide quality help to our overweight patients.

The good news is that there’s help.

There are several ways that I’m going to assist you in developing an organized and effective approach to managing your child’s weight. We’re going to discuss setting realistic expectations for your child. Then we’ll take an in-depth look at the many factors which need to be considered when addressing your child’s weight problem. Finally, we’ll tie everything together with a solid plan that puts all of your newly acquired knowledge to work.

Now, you might have read other books or tried other programs and failed. That’s okay! The important thing is that you are concerned enough to keep trying. Don’t give up! This book will give you the means to better understand your child’s weight issues and make a really positive influence in his life.

It’s important not to put this off any longer. Clearly, because you are reading this, you have some awareness that you must do something about your child’s weight. There are several reasons, though, why you need to act NOW.

Your child’s health is on the line. Studies show that obesity can be directly linked with a reduction in life expectancy. The more overweight your child is, the shorter his life will be. In the meantime, your child will be more prone to many serious illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and others.

Your child is having a harder time every day keeping up with other children. His endurance and physical fitness become handicapped as your child lives longer at an unhealthy weight.

Your child’s emotional well-being is also being affected. His self-confidence and self-esteem are tested every day as he encounters others who judge people solely on appearances. Ignoring a weight problem to spare their feelings can potentially leave your child feeling helpless and alone.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

This book will help you get your child’s weight under control. He will feel vibrant, alive, and healthy. He will have more fun playing with others. He will get along better with others. He will eat better, and have less anxiety about food. He will help the whole family live a healthier lifestyle. He will gain the confidence to accomplish anything he sets his mind to.

Excited?

You should be!

Let’s get started by talking about setting goals. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

My wife and I have always been concerned with our child's nutrition and absorb as much information as possible on this topic. We both felt that Dr. Scaccia's book was very insightful and gave us some good advice on how to keep our child on the right track, both with proper nutrition and with exercise. We believe that Dr. Scaccia's book will continue to have a positive effect on our child's life for many years to come!

This book really is wonderful. Anyone with a child who has weight problems knows how difficult it can be for both the child and the parents. Dr. Scaccia provides the reader with sensible tips and advice -- medical, nutrional, and just plain common sense -- to create a realistic path for weight control success. All I can say is, thank you, Dr. Scaccia!
