Since there are controversial discussions if the handy cooler REALLY works, here's my video review of my take on this product. Verdict is, the handy cooler does work and it's a nicely implemented product. The weather here at Palm Springs is great for swamp coolers like this and it gives a nice kick if you freeze the filter. (Sorry about the background construction noise and the wind noise from handy cooler!)

I've had the handy cooler for just over a year now and so far I really like it. It's been lying under my bed for the whole winter, but now the heat is back and I've brought it back in action.

What I liked:
- The design. Looks good. Feels good. I like the swivel vent head too.
- Portability. I bring it around to classes, work and around home.
- Performance. Cools like a charm.
- Size and weight.

What I would like to see improved:
- Rechargeable lithium battery option. The unit is not capable of recharging batteries. However, I recommend getting 4 rechargeable batteries, and charge them with battery docks. It'll cost you $40+ but will save you on the long run.
- Longer cooling duration.
- a longer USB cord!

It's a nice little fan with a twist, but be sure to stock up on batteries.

When a friend suggested this product to me, I was a bit hesitant at how well it would work but when I ended up purchasing one and using it for the first time, I was quite SURPRISED! Because I use an AC Adapter (which I *highly* recommend), the airflow was much stronger. The cool air helped lower my body temperature and I felt like I was sitting next to an AC. Now, it doesn't replace an AC but I feel that it is better than a fan! I will also use this to dry my nails because sometimes my nail dryer blows *warm* air on summer.

I'm in the Navy, therefore I sleep in a tiny, tiny, often hot space with no air circulation. I ordered this because there is only so much night-sweat and dude-funk one can take in this sort of environment. It just came in the other day, but it appears sufficient to cool a cramped, curtained, coffin-like enclosure! The noise at high-speed is a total non-issue; trust me, the engines drown it out completely. If you're ordering one of these for your sailor, I recommend the pink one. The guys who've seen it all want one, but nobody is going to steal something in pink.

Honestly, I wish it were less expensive, but the build quality is solid enough that I think it'll survive until I get back, and that's really all that counts.

I was originally looking for a fan or something for the car, to use without the motor running hopefully. The positive reviews caught my attention and I took a chance on it. I'm really glad I did! Works great, no odor from the sponge as some have noted, and on the lowest speed my Sony rechargeable batteries are on about 8+ hours without having needed to recharge yet! It's a little pricey, but with 2 small children I'm glad I got this portable AC. Probably going to order the stroller kit from their website - I can see this thing getting used anytime we're out with the kids.

Excellent product. It works well, produces a gentle hum when it's on and is very small. It can easily be placed on your desk without taking up much space or blocking you.

This small quiet fan moves a good amount of air very quietly. Fits into a very small space - unobtrusive.

I think this is the greatest invention! Just to have the option of cooling yourself down (wherever you go) right in the palm of your hand is amazing. I can't tell you how many times i have to spend the night at my mom's or grandma's house and they've got the air set at 79 degrees (which is much too hot for me to sleep) in the middle of summer. Or like when my mom came to see my band play in D.C. and we had to stay in the same hotel room... that little device saved my life that night! So all in all, I think this is well worth the money. It won't blast freezing air at you, but it definitely does what it says. Oh - my only complaint is the color in the picture looks more red than pink. When I ordered it (thinking it was more red), I got a pink that looks like something you'd find in a ladies purse... So men, don't be deceived!

Yes, this little puppy really does work as advertised. Just wet the sponge, turn the unit on, and point the air stream at your face.

Ahhhhhh...

The Handy Cooler appears to be well built. The fan is very quiet. You can put the unit on a desk or tabletop, and it will blow a nice stream of cool air at you.

I like the way you can rotate the air head ninety degrees, giving you greater flexibility in positioning the unit. I also like the little water bottle they give you, which holds two "recharges". Yes, they have figured out how much water you can add to keep cool without water dribbling from the unit. They figure you can go from thirty minutes to three hours on a "full" sponge, depending on your environment.

I have told the company that makes the Handy Cooler that they need to introduce a shoulder holster, so you can wear it around and use it hands-free. In the meantime, I am going to see if I can rig up some sort of shoulder sling or something that will suit this purpose.

At any rate, if you hate the heat, the Handy Cooler is the real deal -- cool relief to go. HIGHLY recommended.

My only gripe, as another customer commented, is the high UPS shipping charge. A lower-cost USPS shipping option would be welcome...

And yes, I use NiMH rechargeable batteries, and they last for hours on a charge. Ahhhh...

I really like the shape and design of this product. It has a turnable fan that you can adjust to keep it blowing on your face. I also use this to cool my laptop down too, when I'm not at the desk. My laptop can get quite hot when I'm running my video editing programs and I'm not fond of those laptop coolers. They raise the height of the laptop and already I'm too short on my desk. I keep it running atleast 9 hours I day - start it up once I get to my office, and leave it running until I leave. It has been problem free for nearly half a year now.

It would have been perfect if it came in different sizes so I can keep a bigger one for the office, and a smaller one to keep in my purse. I've made this suggestion to the guys who made it.

This is definitely a 5 star item and I recommend this to any office clerk. It's $50, but it also looks great on the desk.

Cooling: 5 out of 5
Setup: 5 out of 5
Noise: 4 out of 5

The heat has been very bad, and although I find it bearable, my kids get extremely agitated. Luckily I found the Handy Cooler for them to use. The setup was easy and my two boys were able to get it running without any issues although at first they had troubles sleeping with it on as they weren't used to the white noise. I like it as it keeps them cool without jacking up our utility bills (I use the usb adaptor when at home). Originally they shared one but I had to buy another one for them. A bit pricey, but worth it!
