Very Useful Book,

This book is very useful. It has detailed lesson plans plus ways to individualize the order and session content for several different types of small groups. I have already put this book to use and I like it so much I want to buy the 3-5 version. Every book I have used from this author has been wonderful.

Great resource!,

I am a first year school psychologist and I love this book! It gives great resources that maybe the more experienced psychologist or counselor already has, but for the less experienced it has great group ideas and handouts for parents. I'm already using the ideas for my groups, and I plan to get the older version next.

As a picky elementary counselor I am always looking for just the right books to fit my curriculum. This small group counseling book has become a go-to resource for me as I look to revamp small groups. Everything is laid out for you from parent letters to lesson plans. The kids even like the lessons and I feel they take strategies away from our small group each week.

Senn's book is the type of book you can put to use right away. She offers good ideas for groups, both in focus and in activities, and supplements the text with everything you will need from letters of permission to reproducibles that support games and activities. In contrast to other books I have purchased on group counseling, which were theoretical and contained little information on direct applications, this is the one I will return to when planning for my work with children.

Finally an excellent resource for school counselors!!! This product has excellent topic areas, many lessons, and contains ready made small group information to send home to parents. This is by far one of the best resources for school counselors I have come across in a long time!!! I also recommend the same book but for small groups with upper grade levels. Highly recommended!!!

I have hundreds and hundreds of books geared for helping children as a social worker, and I must at least have 30 books to help run small groups. You will not be disappointed with these books. What I love about it is, it is written so you can run a group start to finish. It has assessments in each area for parents as well as students to fill out and even better yet.... you will get information sheets/letters that you can send home to the parent so they know what you are working on and how to reinforce at home. The sessions are nice, you can make it a little longer if you need to or you can do them in as little as 20 minutes perfect for IEP kids too. I love this book and for the price you can't beat it ... I have paid twice for a book only to be disappointed and you won't be.
