A good option at bathtime for kids with ear tubes,

We bought this product to protect our son's ears during bathtime. He is two and has eartubes and our doctor recommended not allowing bath water into ears. This can make shampooing challenging. We use this product in combination with the silicone ear plugs (kind of like clear play dough) to keep them in place and seal his ears from soapy bathwater. My only complaint is that it can sometime be difficult to get the right fit and comfort with the velcro strap. We recommend getting the band wet before fitting to head, because like a wetsuit, water causes the neoprene to stretch out. Often it will stretch enough that it can slip down over child's eyes which, in our son's case, causes some panic and can also cause his silicone earplugs to fall out. Despite some difficulties in getting it on our son while not causing the plugs to be dislodged or velcro to scratch him, we like that, once in place, it provides good protection and we can shampoo and rinse without anxiety of getting water into his ears. Know the band is sized and has the velcro to allow for many different shaped and sized heads and to grow with your child, but we would prefer if it were sized as it is currently but instead of the velcro it had a stretchy elastic band at the back, like may women's headbands, for ease of placement. Perhaps placement will get easier as he gets older. Overall though, we think this is the best solution to bathtime for a child with eartubes.

Great for Ear Tubes,

My one year old daughter has tubes in her ears. We tried to bathe her with cotton (dipped in vaseline) in her ears but she would pull them out or sometimes they would fall out. The same thing happened with ear plugs. However the Ear Band-it works great along with the ear plugs. She can't pull the ear plugs out, they don't fall out, and water doesn't get into her ears. At first she would cry with the Ear Band-it on, but after a week or so she got used to it. Now she lets me put in her ear plugs and put on the Ear Band-it and doesn't fuss. We took her swimming with the Ear Band-it and didn't have any problems with all of the splashing in the pool.

This product is a great idea. My now 15 month old son has tubes and I tried using these on him. He wasnt a happy camper with it though. The product is great quality and it fits my son great and it has room to grow. But my son hate stuff on his head, around his head etc. He doesnt like hats either. So the few times we used it in the pool, he didnt mind it coz he was distracted with the water and other kids but as soon as he realizes he yanks it out. So we used the silicon ear plugs. Note to moms: if your some has similar attributes/likes and dislikes like my son this product wont work. I am holding on to it because every month is different with a kid. He may not mind it next month.
