Editorial Reviews

From Book News

A mechanical engineer who runs a business developing small-scale cogeneration projects in southern California, Kalanowski explains how any company that buys electricity and natural gas or propane from outside suppliers can increase fuel efficiency, lower fuel usage, and increase savings. He considers such aspects as the history of cogeneration, uses and applications, regulatory actions, installation, permits required, operation and maintenance, financing, case histories, manufacturers, do-it-yourself systems, environmental issues, micro-turbines, absorber chillers, distributed generation, and cogeneration in Europe.Book News, Inc.®, Portland, OR --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

From the Back Cover

As the technologies for small-scale cogeneration have advanced over the last decade, a greater number of commercial, institutional, governmental and industrial energy users are seeing the advantages offered by these highly efficient systems. Cogeneration can now turn up to 90% of the fuel burned into usable energy. In addition, because cogeneration uses less fuel, overall fewer pollutants are emitted into the atmosphere. Cogenerators are also well positioned to benefit from today's more liberalized and competitive energy markets. This comprehensive reference provides a wealth of information to assist you in evaluating the feasibility and potential benefits of cogeneration for your facility. Covered in detail are recent regulatory developments and their impact, system selection and sizing, permitting requirements, operation and maintenance, financing, technology basics, micro turbines, absorption chillers, distributed generation, and case histories. --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

1.0 out of 5 stars Small-Scale Cogeneration Handbook, September 2, 2009
Very ordinary book, lacking in detailed technical information that I would expect from a book with this title. To much blurb about the machinations of the cogeneration industry and the authors role in the industry. This was of little interest to me as a technical person.

I would not recommend this book. Too much fluff and not enough substance.
