5.0 out of 5 stars And The Greatest Gift Is Love, August 3, 2010

This review is from: Small Sensations (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
Davia Maxwell is a beautiful, confident and astute business executive at the
top of her game. She single-handedly created a multi-million dollar company
that is on the verge of becoming even more popular and successful. She is
also a devoted grandmother and friend. No one knows the extent of her humble beginnings after observing her present-day demeanor and lifestyle. Despite her success in the corporate world, Davia's life is glaringly absent of romantic love, which is her preference, much to the dismay of her devoted friends. Davia is dedicated to raising her grandchild and making up for the past mistakes made with her daughter. She has no desire to travel down the road of hurt and rejection that dealing with the opposite sex will undoubtedly lead to...no matter how finely wrapped the package.

Justin Miles was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, tangible evidence of
the union of Atlanta's powerful Miles and Justin family clans. Yet, even as
a boy, it was second nature for Justin to reject the social mores his
mother, Katherine, attempted to indoctrinate in him, electing to instead choose his own friends and later, his own profession. Justin's rise to fame was a result of his own hard work and self-determination. So, it comes as no surprise after meeting the lovely Ms. Davia Maxwell, he chooses to pursue her with the same gusto and zeal he sought other items and people his mother deemed to be unworthy. There's just one problem; Katherine isn't so willing to allow Justin to be the master of his own destiny regarding his interest in Davia, especially when her precious family name and standing in the community is at stake.

In SMALL SENSATIONS, Ms. Rhodes pens an engaging and well-written love story between two characters from the opposite sides of the track. While Davia and Justin's story may be somewhat common, Ms. Rhodes presentation of the story will engage readers from the book's opening lines and keep their interest until the last word is read. This is my first time reading a novel by Ms. Rhodes, but it will definitely not be my last.

5.0 out of 5 stars SENSATIONAL, November 20, 2010

This is a SENSATIONAL treat...a GRIPPING page-turner from beginning to end...the characters are well developed...the DEPTH of these UNFORGETTABLE characters, the INTRIGUING and suspenseful story line keeps me captivated throughout....Justin is an INCREDIBLE hero...he's EXTREMELY patient, loving, kind and VERY protective of those he loves....with all Davia's many secrets, her reluctance to trust and share, Justin MUST be very careful not to spook her...I also ENJOY the way she slowly and FINALLY opens up to Justin in her own UNIQUE way...it's quite a touching and ENDURING love story...this is the first book I've read by Crystal V. Rhodes and it DEFINITELY won't be the last!

Despite his age and business success, Justin Miles' mother, Katherine still interfers in his life and select who he dates or gets serious with. Being the grand dame of Atlanta society, just anybody will do. Justin finds himself attracted to Davia Maxwell, owner of her own successful business, Small Sensations.

Davia is raising her grandchild and hoping her past will stay that way. Ms Rhodes has made sure that Justin and Davi's attraction for one another combine to stand up against Katherine and other stumbling blocks thrown in their path to provide a much deserved happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Excellent Story, September 5, 2010
This review is from: Small Sensations (Indigo) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is among the best books I have read in a longtime. Ms Rhodes does an excellent job of developing the character in this story in such a way that you are able to actually get into their heads and feel their emotions (including one unsavory).

This is the story of the strong, fighting spirit of a once abused and neglected child. The story starts with a glimpse of Davia pass, then goes on to show how she was able to pull herself up to becoming a successful entrepreneur. There some things that are not as easily overcome, though, as we soon discover.
Justin Miles meets this strong woman and is determined to get to know her better, which will not be an easy task. Justin is not easily deterred and his determination pays off. He and Davia take their time and development a loving and trusting relationship, to the chagrin on his socialite mother. Katherine is determined to break them up, but her efforts soon prove fruitless.

Davia is making great progress, she has shared her past with her friends, Justin and even sought professional help. Suddenly she is forced to face the one monster from her past, who not only threatens her life, but the innocent lives of those around her. Now with an accidental death added to the equation, Justin and Davia love is truly tested. Will be able to survive?

Ms Rhodes delivers an excellent story of pain, love and courage. She takes her time to develop the relationship between Justin and Davia in such way, that can feel their love is based on more than just a physical attraction and the supporting characters were an added plus. I definitely recommend this book.

This was touching story. I loved how Davia overcame all the issues that she dealt with as a child and made a new life for her and her granddaughter. I also loved how Justin took the time to allow Davia to learn to love and trust him. His Mother was another story but she finally stopped meddling and judging after almost losing both her grown daughter and her son. Wonderful story with a even better ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Sensation, August 29, 2010

This book is a BIG sensation. I loved this book from start to finish. The author's character development and ability to draw you into the story was outstanding! Justin was the perfect hero. He was patient, loving, kind and protective. While Davia had many secrets from her past, I enjoyed the way she opened up to him when you least expect it. This was a great love story that had me thinking of the couple long after I put the book down.

This was a great story, loved how the author developed each characters. What I liked most was the process it took Justin to earn Davia's trust and love. Clear example, "love was patience". My first by Crystal Rhodes. Thank you Ms. Rhodes.
