Small Surrenders: A Lenten Journey

I read this as my Lenten spiritual reading this year, and it was brilliant. One day when the reading was particularly on point for my experience, I came to my keyboard and typed out a response to Emilie Griffin herself - found her email address online. The act of writing out my response was beautiful in itself, and I always consider something that stimulates my thought enough to have to write about it to be a good read! But the bonus was that I got an email response from Emilie who, despite her thick resume, is a wonderful, personable woman. This book took me full circle from reading, to meditating on scripture, to response, to community. It doesn't get any better than that!

This is a wonderful Lenten study. The daily readings are short, but full of deep thought and contemplation. It is good for a small group or just for personal use. This is my second year to do this, and I am learning new things every day.

This book provides for a daily engagement of purposeful thinking and personal reflection on matters of utmost importance on our life journey. Thought provoking, uplifting, and an expansion of our awareness of what we can do to be a better person.

This book is very insightful and is helping me as I start my journey through Lent this year. It is helping me to see the real importance of the the time leading up to our Lord's death and resurrection.
