Small Talk displays Eric Essix's laid-back approach to both the guitar and to singing. "I want to touch people with my compositions, with the music I've written," says Essix, "more so than doing all the flashy playing." In the tradition of George Benson, Essix scats on many of his tunes. This album is great. No words can describe Amazing Grace. Buying the album will be well worth your money.

Actually, this is not Essik's first album. Being from Birmingham I have had the opportunity to see him many times. He has quite a few albums out and they are all wonderful. Each year he plays at City Stages, a music festival in Birmingham that encompasses over 250 acts in one weekend.

I recently discovered the wonderful world of Jazz. After hearing Essix live, I wanted to check out his library of music. "Small Talk" is fast becoming a favorite. I love the melodic, haunting sound of "By My Side" and "No Matter What" are wonderful vocals on this CD. The entire CD is well worth your money spent. This CD is up there with my other favorite CD by Essix: 'Somewhere in Alabama'. Loved, loved, loved this CD!
