5.0 out of 5 stars My Familiar, November 12, 2004
This review is from: Small-Town Gay (Paperback)
I just finished reading Charity Warren's piece entitled, "My familiar" which was extremely powerful for me. Because her words were so poignant and painted a picture so clearly, I could begin to see the world through her eyes and possibly understand some of the pain, fear and isolation that she endured growing up not able to be herself. I agree with Frued and Charity that the things most frightening to us are the things which are most familiar, yet altered in a way as to be unfamiliar. I was struck by her honesty in her writing. I look forward to reading the rest of the book.
