Very good for experienced woodworkers,
By Kurt A. Johnson (North-Central Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Small Woodworking Projects (The Best of Fine Woodworking) (Paperback)
This book contains no less than 35 projects for the advanced woodworker. The reason I say, "advanced," is that these projects require a more than basic understanding of woodworking, and require the sort of tools that the beginner is unlikely to have (e.g. scroll saw, lathe, etc.) The book is filled with color pictures, and excellent diagrams. However, what is missing is any sort of a list of materials, tools, cuttings, etc. Also, while the text is quite informative, it is not organized in a clear step-by-step format. The projects are quite interesting, and produce beautiful results (I made the Norwegian Bentwood Box from page 36). Therefore, I would say that this is a very good book for the woodworker who is experienced in making things, but probably too complicated for woodworkers of more modest experience.

Professional Woodworking Projects,
By W. Prange (Wilmington, DE) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Small Woodworking Projects (The Best of Fine Woodworking) (Paperback)
Clear, well thought out presentation of some interesting projects. The diagrams are well drawn. The projects are challenging to beginners and not run-of-the-mill to experts. Highly recommend this book for anyone interested in fine woodworking.
