4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of play with these!
I wasn't too excited about these when I saw them in the box, but my daughter (just under 2 years) really enjoys playing with these. I imagine she'll like them when she's older too as she can't put all of them back together yet. They vary in how they go back together--some are just a basic "cut" in half, others have leaves on them and then smaller parts, and the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Better out there
We have the wooden Melissa and Doug set. They are much better than these and cheaper. For example, look at the carrot. You can only cut it one time. In our wooden set the carrot is four or five pieces. Also, several of the peels and "throw away" parts of the vegetables are held on by tiny pieces of flimsy velcro. The husk of the corn and the leafy part of the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent toy!, September 14, 2009

This really is an excellent toy -- my 3yo boy loves them. He can practice cutting them, making "soup", and then when we serve those vegetables he's a little more interested in them. These are a bit pricey, but make a great gift, and keep him busy and happy for hours every week. I was surprised how durable the velcro is -- he can pull them apart over and over without damaging the velcro in any way. A really well designed, fun, and educational toy.

This is a great product, my 2 year old daughter loves it. I was making sausage and peppers, and while i was cutting the peppers, my daughter took out her veggies and was pretending to cut them just like mommy!

My little girl will be 2 this month, and I'm already convinced that she is destined down the path of culinary greatness! She loves kitchen toys and faux food, and she L-O-V-E-S this set of veggies! She plays with them all day, pulling and cutting them apart, "cooking" with them, you name it. I initially was going to buy the wooden Melissa and Doug version, but after seeing these at her preschool, I feel that these are more durable and the velcro lasts longer. The wooden fruits and veggies are too heavy to be held together by velcro. Simply a great toy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kids Love These, May 4, 2010

My son loved cutting the Melissa & Doug food when visiting friends. But when I was shopping, this set had a lot more to offer for much less money. I am very happy with my decision. First it is plastic, so they can be cleaned easier after being in their mouth all the time. The velcro is very sturdy on most pieces (unlike some brands I've seen). The corn and cauliflower don't have enough velcro to stay together, but I love the rest. The plastic is also very firm (unlike some cheap flimsy plastic sets I've seen). I've actually had people want to know where I got this set when they saw it becuase they liked it better than the wooden sets.

The husk of the corn and the leafy part of the cauliflower barely stay on after a few months of play. We originally thought that some of the peels and things might make this a neat set, but now it seems like those are the things that we don't like. This feels like a cheap plastic set.

We own this set and the better Melissa and Doug 31 Piece Cutting Food Box. If I were you I would go with the more durable and more fun to cut wood set.

I love little toys that allow kids to use their imaginations. In a world where video games are the first things they ask for, a toy that makes them think and actually PLAY and has them imagining is WONDERFUL.

Cook for fun, but not junk food. The veggies come with a little board and knife so little ones can prepare food for others, themselves, or their stuffed animals and dolls. While you're little chef is "cooking", you can explain the importance of eatting the veggies for a well balanced meal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great play food set for toddlers, January 1, 2011

I bought this play food set for my almost 2yr old son for xmas and we are very happy with it so far. One of the best things is that there are no very small parts so I don't have to worry about choking even though it says it is for 3yrs+. I couldn't find any play food sets for under 3 yrs so this one is the best I found for under 3 range. Also- these veges velcro together and come with a fake knife and cutting board so they can practice slicing and dicing the veges. It makes a semi-real sound when he cuts through the veges that he loves. I would highly recommend these. I am hoping the velcro holds up well but only time will tell and I liked these over the wood ones for ease of cleaning them.

I bought this for my baby who's 20 months old. He loves cutting these vegetables up. I already bought some more fruits for him to cut and play with. Teaches him the names of vegetables and he's a pro in cutting them up now.
