A toy that lasts!,

My 5 year old has had this toy since he was two and he still pushes it around. It's definately durable - he's not easy on it! I'm here to buy another one for my soon to be 2 year old because they have started to fight over it. It's one of the few toys that caught and kept my kids attention over time.

It's a cute cart and the kids love it and the groceries that come with it, but it's really disappointing durablility-wise. It's always coming apart. It doesn't break, but you have to snap it all back together. When the basket isn't coming apart, it sags. Overall, very weak holding up to normal 2 1/2 year old play. I will look for something much sturdier. Btw, the groceries are pretty cheaply put together as well and are easily crushed, torn, etc.

Pretty flimsy,

I almost wonder if some of the earlier reviews are of a different product. The one I just assembled is pretty flimsy. Be aware that although the description says "metal frame", the basket itself is plastic. It hangs off of the frame by just two plastic clips. I am not sure how well it's going to hold up to my toddlers' play but I suspect they are going to pull it apart in short order. It's cute but I wish I'd paid about half of what I did for it (which, incidentally, is about half of what it's currently listed for on here).

The biggest disappointment (among many) about this toy is that the items that go in the cart are so small that they do not even cover the bottom of the cart if all laid down flat. In the picture, the cart is overflowing with groceries. I realize it says that items may vary from what is shown in the picture, but it says due to "constant improvement" insinuating that what you get may actually be better than what you see. What a joke! Furthermore, the fake money looked like it was printed off from a home computer and had to be cut apart by hand, no perforation or anything...same for the "coupons" and "shopping list" that came with it. In addition, the seat for a doll is not big enough for any doll I've ever seen. It's barely big enough for a Beanie Baby stuffed animal. It is also mostly plastic, not metal like the advertisement insinuated. If you are looking for a shopping cart for your toddler, keep looking. This is not a good value.

This shopping cart is not very sturdy - VERY wobbly!! It is VERY small and won't hold much food. The 'seat' for doll would not hold most dolls it is VERY small - maybe a weibkin. It arrived with VERY small pretend food (not as pictured) and no money/coupons/or list as promised. I would NOT buy this item again --- buy a sturdier one that will last!!

Yes, this cart is flimsy plastic and lightweight metal. It comes to my one year old's chest, so its small. But, for $15 its awesome. I saw a more expensive one in a local boutique toy store. My daughter liked it so much that I wanted to get her something similar. We have very little money right now since my husband took a pay cut for the next year. So, there was no way I could afford even the $30 ones, let alone the $70 Melissa and Doug. The bottom line is, that if you can really swing the $70, get the nicer one as an investment. But, the economy has effected your household the way it has ours...this is a great option. It's like how the Dollar Tree has a lot of crappy stuff, but there are some really cool things too. But, I wouldn't really complain if something I got from the Dollar Tree broke down seeing as how it was only a dollar. I was prepared for this $15 cart to fall apart within a week. But, after a month, we went back to that toy store. They're display cart was in shambles (bent, broken wheel, cheaper seat). Ours is still nice. The groceries that come with it are micro sized and of things that I've never even heard of like raspberry wafers. So, I trashed them all and just saved an old plastic milk bottle, smaller box of cereal, empty peanut butter can, empty 16 oz. Pepsi bottle and a bottled water for her to play with. I have small lunch sized paper bags at home and use those to bag it all up for her. I had some old paper foreign money that I'll never use and an old wallet and purse that I gave her to play with also.
My daughter is under the recommended age, so I don't let her play with it when I'm not with her. And, when she first used it I almost took it away from her. She's just learned to walk, so she kept falling down while gripping the handle. So, she would pinch her fingers under the handle. I would scoop her up to comfort her, and she would push me off to get back to the cart. It reminded me of the bad falls you endure daily when little ones learn to crawl. After 3 falls she figured out the weight balance. Having some lightweight things in the basket helped, like the small bottle of water. I can't really criticize the product since it's not recommended for her age, but its more of a beware to buyer if you're thinking of getting it for your smaller child. You should stay very close when they're first playing with it to help them figure it out. We also have very slick hardwood floors and linoleum. In the living room we have a very low profile area carpet that she can push the cart across. I'm not sure if it goes across high pile carpet. Maybe some of the other reviews will say so. Bottom line, I'm very happy with my purchase. I can't wait to upgrade to the more expensive version one day, but for now this one is great for the price.

I will admit that it isn't the most durable toy. I tied up the front of the cart to keep it from popping off and haven't had a problem with it since though.
My son runs around the house and regularly bangs it against the wall and cabinets. (he is very rough with it and my furniture) I like it because: - it is light weight - easy to maneuver - inexpensive - unlike the metal carts, it won't leave marks on my walls or destroy my furniture (I've read the reviews) *my son was already walking when we got this so I didn't have to worry about him falling over trying to walk with it. I know that all the shopping carts do have this problem including the metal expensive ones. I suggest buying a walker when they are in that phase. Having a heavy cart or light one falling on them doesn't sound like fun.

From the way that the picture looked I thought that the basket would be made from the same metal material that the bottom is made of. It is not! This makes the entire toy extremely flimsy. I would not recommend this particular shopping cart to anyone.

Great product for the price. My daughter LOVES this cart. She is two and loves to push things. Not as heavy duty, but I doubt she could break it and she pushes it all over the house. Great size, fantastic price. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a kids shopping cart.

My kids love this! It is pretty sturdy and goes pretty fast around my house. It swivels nice and is smooth. The little screws are cute flowers and there are little bears by the handles. It can fit a small baby doll in the front portion. My 2 yr old and 4 yr old love this. We have fun.
