We have a profoundly retarded adult son. This is, hands down, his favorite toy. He loves music and he can choose what plays by turning it over to the appropriate side. He carries it with him everywhere.

However, we need a new one for Christmas. It flat wore out after a few months of being totally loved and played (new batteries made no difference). It only plays one song now and only when the little switch it flipped back to off and then on again. That being said, it is such a favorite we will buy another for Christmas! It is soft and cannot hurt him or anything else if dropped or thrown or landed upon. The music is done well and not grating; the volume has a 'low' and a 'high.'

We also got one for our little granddaughter who is about 18 months old now. She also loves hers but not with the same passion our son feels! She enjoys the tactile activities involved -- some of the sides have pop-ups and things to open up and take out.

This is a very well-thought-out toy and I appreciate it. I just wish it lasted longer.

This is a great toy if you are encouraging your son to stand. My son loves the sound of the songs. It has a pop out cake with patty cake and he laughs when I pop it out. The tunes are catchy. It is safe since it cant hurt him if he falls and because it is a cloth/soft cube, it is pretty sturdy on the floor. What I like about it is that you can create associations. I havent done that with him yet but like play the train song when he wakes up, ants before going out, spaghetti song before meal, twinkle star before nap etc. The activities are not that great like there is not a whole lot going on for him to touch and feel and play with but we like it anyway and it keeps him entertained.

My neighbor gave us this toy as a hand me down when my son was 6 mths old. He is almost 1 and it is still his favorite toy. He loves to dance to the music and make it play songs. He walks over to it, hits it, and then dances. He LOVES it. I highly recommend this toy.
