4.0 out of 5 stars good for the money
This is the first steamer I've purchased. I've used it a few times so far and it works quite well, especially compared to a similarly priced iron. The great thing is that this does not make contact with the clothing like an iron does. I ruined a good pair of pants with an iron recently and I know with a steamer I won't have this problem. 1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
This product is just plain awful and the SmarTek company is as well. When I received the product a couple days ago, I read the instruction manual before using the Steamer. There were SEVERAL typos in the manual...that was my first red flag. Nowhere in the manual did it have anything about a warranty for the product...second red flag. I went to their web-site and again...

4.0 out of 5 stars good for the money, July 19, 2009

This is the first steamer I've purchased. I've used it a few times so far and it works quite well, especially compared to a similarly priced iron. The great thing is that this does not make contact with the clothing like an iron does. I ruined a good pair of pants with an iron recently and I know with a steamer I won't have this problem. This particular model seems to be built pretty well with a long, durable, three-pronged electrical cord. I would recommend this product to anyone. I don't give it five stars because it takes a little longer to remove wrinkles than I thought--but this is only a small gripe.

Great product works well heats up quick .The powerful burst of steam just removes all wrinkles perfectly.
I have a big steam press for bigger jobs and bought this little one to do some smaller jobs. I'm amazed on the work it does it not just for small job it can be use for practically anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little gadget for the money!, August 18, 2009

I bought this steamer instead of an iron, and I know I made the right decision. It's compact (could fit in a shoebox), simple to operate, and really steams! It works really well for being so small and simply designed. I think for the money, you can't do much better. It would even be good for traveling - I think it says this in the product description, but I had my doubts. It actually wouldn't take up any more room in a suitcase than a blowdryer. I'm thrilled with my purchase and I would definitely recommend it.

There were SEVERAL typos in the manual...that was my first red flag. Nowhere in the manual did it have anything about a warranty for the product...second red flag. I went to their web-site and again no warranty information or trouble-shooting information...third red flag.

I filled the SmarTek Steamer with distilled water as instructed and was excited to start steaming my new curtains. The steamer heated up and started emitting steam...yippee. BUT, a minute later it stopped emitting steam and cooled down. After approximately 5 minutes it started heating up the water again and emitting steam...once again for only a minute. This continued and continued on. Obviously at this rate it would take days to get the curtains steamed.

This product is definitely not worth purchasing.

THANK YOU TO AMAZON FOR THE EASY RETURN POLICY. I purchase often from Amazon and have for years. This is my first return...so 5 STARS for Amazon. --"Kimmer"

Read the reviews, made the purchase, sent it back. If you fill this steamer up to the fill line it boils so much the water is spitting from it and all over your clothes. Filled it below the fill line then you run out of water before you're done steaming your garment, still with a little spitting as well and water spots on your clothes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of steam, November 27, 2009

Very surprised at how much steam comes out of this little machine! My Conair handheld steamer died after years of use and I bought this as a replacement. I've never seen so much steam! Downside, the attachments are a little flimsy. I also can't seem to steam anything without getting water spots on the clothes which at this point is not a major problem. It works, which is more than I can say for some other handheld steamers I've used (Rowenta).

2.0 out of 5 stars What the manual does not tell you in clear prints...., September 22, 2010

Pro:
-Steamer worked quite well. Removed most wrinkles.
-Convenient and hand-held. Hassle-free ironing.

Con:
-The accessories is not easy to attach on unless you have good strength
-IMPORTANT: DO NOT LEAVE REMAINING WATER IN THE STEAMER. It will RUST! Mine rusted and water kept dripping out from the bottom.

I think this is a bad design because a steamer, like an ironer, should be able to hold water. They should have used a different material to sustain the water.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far, very good purchase, January 23, 2010

I've had 2 other brands of steamers in the past and this one is comparable in price but much better. Higher volume reservoir, quicker heat up time, better air flow, wider steam head.

I've had it over a year, use it often and have had no problems so far. It does a good job for a handheld unit and is worth the price IMO.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great...when it actually worked, December 14, 2010
This review is from: ST-50N Portable Fabric Steamer (Kitchen)
We've owned 2 of these steamers. The first one was great--constant steam, took wrinkles out beautifully--we absolutely loved it. However, less than a year later it started to leak at the seams. We thought it was our fault because we took it on the road and thought we it may have gotten banged around. Bought another one and this one stinks. It stops steaming after a minute then takes a minute to start again. You can hear the click when it starts so it seems like there's something wrong with the steaming mechanism. We were diligent about using distilled water and emptying it out after every use so there's no reason it should be mineral build-up. Save your money--the frustration is not worth it!
