Having been a fan of Brain Age on the Nintendo DS, I was looking forward to Smart As on the Vita since it's announcement earlier in the year, and it did not disappoint! The training games are fun (there are a TON) and the production quality really feels far more advanced compared to other games in the genre. Smart As is sure to become a stand-out franchise on the PS Vita console, and a must own for individuals curious in anything that improves their mental sharpness.

Another plus for the game is its replay value. With an internet connection, you can browse leaderboards divided up every way from the overall continents down to your local city. Smart As includes a location based mode, "Street Smart", which challenges players in the city to complete training challenges with the best score ranking in their locale. These reset often, so there are constant opportunities to showcase your intellectual dominance. And of course, no conversation on replay value would be complete without mentioning TROPHIES! The game includes a Platinum, and fantastically forces you to dedicate to long term training in order to unlock them all. No silly scores to beat or difficult challenges, simply training and improving is the key to unlocking trophies.

If you are looking for an enjoyable way to infuse brain training into your day, Smart As for the Playstation Vita is a must own.

While cleverly designed and entertaining, I have to agree with the reviewer who said this mostly tests reflexes. All games are timed which may be ok for some games but they are all that way. Disappointing, but again, it's an entertaining game overall. I still recommend it.

This game offers a variety of fun activities that support addictive game-play. The activities are challenging but not maddeningly impossible (except on the genius level, as is appropriate), and while it is frustrating to only be able to "train" once a calendar day, it also keeps me going back daily because I want to unlock more games (there's a free play area where you can play as much as you want, but most of the games are locked until you unlock them one at a time via daily training). I showed this to my mom over the holidays, and we ended up fighting for Vita time, she loved it so much. My only quibble is that the spelling game vocalist is British (appropriately so, as I believe it's a British game), and I can't always understand what she's telling me to spell; of course, that's my own fault for being American and not speaking the language correctly. :)

Ingenious fun, wonderful presentation. Vita's most underrated game. As you play every day (or not), trying to carefully and quickly flex your brain power in a mini-game regiment you'll unlock some of them to play outside of the main event. Some of the games are just so cool, especially the logic games.

Recently, my father's doctor told him to start doing some brain games as part of his recovery from stroke. I remember playing Smart As for a bit and that it fell into that category, so while visiting him, I let him have my Vita and play it. I had set up a Wii for him in his house prior to this, but the problem with a home console is that the effort for an older person to learn to turn it on, switch HDMI inputs, etc. was just too much. The Vita has a touch screen, and most of the games don't require any thing more complicated than touching the front or back touch pads on the device.

Well, Bowen saw the game, and immediately took to it, and now refers to Smart As as the "drawing letters game." Basically, he starts the game, switches to the language module, and then starts the spelling game! Since he hasn't actually learnt to spell, I'd tell him each letter as he needs it, and he'll draw the character. It's very cute, since every time we get to a letter that he can't draw, he'll shake his head and I'll pick up his finger and draw it for him. He's learnt how to draw a few more letters this way, with me guiding him.

The games are split into four categories: language, math, observation, and logic. Each mini game comes in multiple difficulty levels, and while the easy levels truly are easy (though some of the logic puzzles at easy difficulty are plenty hard!) as you work your way up the difficulty levels you end up
at incredibly fiendish levels, including words that I have trouble with!

The game has a "daily training" functionality, which basically tests a random game from each category and then comes up with a bogus "brain meter".

I got it on December 26, 2013 because it's probably similar to Brain Age which I haven't bought yet. Great exercise for the brain.

Solid game and good mix of game play. PSN allows you to see where you rank among those in your city, country and continent.
