5.0 out of 5 stars A great game, but buy Smart Kids: Playroom and get this game and Smart Girls: Playhouse for just a little bit more.
This game is a lot of fun and your 3-4 year old will love it, whether you have a girl or a boy. Your 2.5 year old might like it, too - but it might be too easy for your 5 year old. Regardless of the gender of your child, you should consider shelling out a little more for Smart Kid's: Gameclub, which contains this game, Smart Boys: Gameroom and Smart Girls: Playhouse...

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay... dissapointed
I wanted to game for our youngest children, ages 3, to play. They really dont get this game because there are too many options for someone their age. The blank coloring part (what I thought would be the best for someone little) is hard because its not easy to reset the screen to white. You have to either leave that game and come back in or erase the entire page with a...

This game is a lot of fun and your 3-4 year old will love it, whether you have a girl or a boy. Your 2.5 year old might like it, too - but it might be too easy for your 5 year old. Regardless of the gender of your child, you should consider shelling out a little more for Smart Kid's: Gameclub, which contains this game, Smart Boys: Gameroom and Smart Girls: Playhouse.

At any rate, the mini-games in this game are:
play the piano
picture match
free drawing
color a pre-printed picture
find the differences in two pictures
put together the puzzle
bop the monsters
play instruments
match the sounds (sort of an easy "Simon")
picture match
counting
train station (my daughter's favorite, your kid will love it if her or she likes Thomas!)
car driving (use a map to drive the car to your destination)

The games sort of range in the fun factor, and none of them track performance or save any pictures or music beyond the end of the mini-game. I find this sort of frustrating but my 3-year-old doesn't seem to care.

The best part is the free drawing game - I've been looking for one of these since she first held my DS stylus and tried to draw in signature box in BrainAge!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good clean fun but for younger kids, January 6, 2008

Was looking for something more educational for Nintendo DS and this game is great in that respect. I purchased for my 6 year old that is in 1st grade but found it to be tailored more for 4 & 5 year olds skill levels. My son found nothing challenging about this game and has moved on to other games. Highly recommended for younger children 4 to 5 years in age.

Finally a game my young son can play on the DS!!! No violence or inappropriateness here, just fun and learning for my son. He loves art like his old man and the drawing game keeps him and even me busy for hours. I highly recommend this game to any parent!

I just bought this game and Smart Girls for my 3 year old son and 5 year old daughter. They just absolutely love this game. I watched them play the game and saw great activities like counting and drawing. As a parent worried about the games out on the market these days, I highly recommend this title for your children.

Both of my young boys have a Nintendo DS. I bought this game to rotate between marathons of Mario Kart DS and superhero games.

My kids weren't interested in this game at first, but quickly warmed up when they tried the piano playing mini-game. They also enjoy the drawing and coloring mini-games.

This is a good game for young players. I like that there are many mini-games, so this isn't a one-trick pony. However, I can't imagine kids over 8- or 9-years old would find this engaging.

If you are looking for more games for young boys, check out my Amazon Listmania List, "Young boys' Nintendo DS games."

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for little tikes., September 25, 2008

My 4 year old took this package of games and started it by himself and has not put it down for a week now. He is very excited at what he can create and he challenges family and friends to competitions with his game and he usually wins.

Great to keep him occupied on long trips! No adult intervention needed, so I highly recommend this for the kids under 7 and it is good for boys and girls.

My five year old son loves this game! We need to limit the amount of time he can play it he loves it so much. It is very creative and not your typical video game. A+

I bought this for my 6 year old son with ADHD. He likes it since he can do all the games without me explaining them or having to read the instructions - which means he doesn't get frustrated with it and doesn't throw the game on the floor. It keeps him busy for a while (there are 12 mini-games) and it reinforces his hand-eye coordination, analitical thinking, concentration, and creativity . I didn't give it 5 stars because I would have preferred it to be a TINY bit more challenging for a 6 year old (example, simple addition and the use of letters). I usually put the game away when I see he's bored with it and take it out again 2 or 3 weeks later. This way it seems to be a new game all over again with all the perks of him winning every time - this is very imporant for children with ADHD, the satisfaction of knowing they can accomplish things (healthy motivation). Overall, it's a great game for a 5 to 6 year old with disabilites or for a 4 year old without.

My son really liked the mini games on here. It's not his favorite...he loves mariokart and cooking mama but he still comes back to this one now and again. very simple and basic minigames and very age appropriate for 3-4 year olds, great for younger children new to the ds.
