Book Description

May 23, 2006
Smart Buildings is a practical guide and resource for architects, engineers, facility managers, developers, contractors, and design consultants. The book covers the costs and benefits of smart buildings, and the basic design foundations, technology systems, and management systems encompassed within a smart building. Unlike other resources, Smart Buildings is organized to provide an overview of each of the technology systems in a building, and to indicate where each of these systems is in their migration to and utilization of the standard underpinnings of a smart building.

2.0 out of 5 stars Smart Buildings by Jim Sinopoli, September 6, 2007
This review is from: Smart Buildings (Paperback)
Very fundamental concepts were presented in a very fundamental manner. Much of the technology discussed is several years old. No emerging technologies were described and no innovative solutions offered. I had hoped there would be suggestions to create a virtual, collaborative work environment throughout the various work spaces in a facility or campus. This book did not meet my expectations. If you are looking for very basic information then buy the book, or save your money and search the internet. If you are looking for advanced architectural solutions to create a true "smart building" then don't buy this book.
