I just received my case that protects the back part of my iPad 2 and it's a perfect match to the Apple Smart Cover in looks and thinness and allows the cover to freely open and close as it did before. I did show my case of 2 matching parts, the other part being the Smart Cover, to several friends and they thought it was purchased as one product. Like buying a jacket and trousers at separate times and hoping they match, but everyone then complimenting you for how well the 2 go together.
The fit of the case is in a word, Perfect, and the cutouts are where they need to be allowing open access to the buttons just as before. So if you're concerned about a proper match to your Smart Cover, there is no need to be. One other comment, the case is a snug fit on the iPad 2 as I think it should be, but only took me about a minute to put it on properly to be the right fit all around.

The quest for the appropriate degree of device protection typically ends up with me buying about half a dozen cases and/or skins, before I find the one that's perfect. The problem is, and always has been, there is no such case or skin.
My iPad stays at home, and is subjected to frequent, but gentle use by only me. I'm not traveling with it, not passing it off to a little kid, and I'm not eating a cheeseburger when I use it. Well, to be fair, I might be, but I've got sense enough to put the burger down and wipe my hands off before grabbing the iPad. This review then, is written from that perspective, and as someone who needs minimal protection, and (to me this is important) wants to prevent the palms of his/her hands from being "poked" constantly, by the not-nearly-rounded-enough edges of the iPad 3 (especially in landscape orientation). So, with the "intended use" business out of the way, here are my thoughts:
I bought the case without being certain that it would fit the iPad 3. But, being as inexpensive as it is, there wasn't much to lose. It fits perfectly. All the cutouts are where they should be, and are fully exposed (perhaps a bit more than needed, but that's OK with me). It wasn't difficult to put on, but it's a snug fit. The iPad is definitely not falling out of this cover. There's minimal edge wrap onto the front of the device. Less than I've seen on a number of sleeves, covers and cases, so though just about any amount of edge wrap interferes with screen protectors, this cover might be less of a problem if you're using one (I don't). As the photo shows, one side nearly totally unprotected, for Smart Cover compatibility. I cannot say whether or not it truly is compatible with one, as I don't use one. The back surface is a relatively hard matte/satin texture. Very comfortable, not slippery, but not sticky or tacky like a silicone skin would be.
The best feature about this cover is that the rounded corners save my hands. If you've got an HP Touchpad, you know what true comfort is. This isn't quite as rounded/gentle as that, but it's close. And, it will provide the comfort that the unprotected iPad won't. The cover will provide some drop protection, as the back and corners are well covered. But, a dropped, expensive electronic gadget is like toast: It's going to fall "butter side" (screen) down. Unless it happens to fall on a perfectly flat surface, you're probably doomed with this cover. But, it's better than nothing.
So, to summarize: If you want to "take the edge off" of your iPad, aren't looking for bulletproof protection, don't want to spend a lot, and are looking for something for the iPad 3, this cover is a great choice.

I like it, I don't love it.
It protects the iPad real well. It has a tight fit, and as someone stated it does take a bit of effort to get around the last corner. It doesn't interfere with the smart cover functionality in any way, including stability in the various standing positions.
However, I'm going to try some other covers. It has a lip that cover three sides to the iPad. Being flexible, it doesn't hold tight on any of the edges other than at the corners. At one of the corners it has started lifting my perfectly applied screen protector, not necessarily negative though, it's very protective. I also worry that the lip will cause my smart cover to curl along the edgesand at $70 for the smart cover, I'd like to find a cover for my back that doesn't have to wrap onto the screen side. I'm also really bothered personally by the mismatch in color between the black and my navy smart cover, I have tried a friend's black smart protector and it does look very slick if looks matter to you.
I can't knock this protector at all, it's just not the fit for me.

This case fits iPad 3!!!! It's is perfect for me because unlike other smart cover compatible cases, it actually has a little protection over the front of the screen.
Some reviews have said that it doesn't make a perfect connection with the smart cover. So far I think it makes a pretty good magnetic connection. Besides it is more important to me to have a little screen protection in case my iPad falls over while watching something instead of having the screen fully exposed.

Excellent case for an amazing price.
It fits snugly against the back of my iPad 2 and compliments my blue smart cover extremely well. It has a slight texture so it offers a great grip.
For essentially $15 (including the shipping) I ordered this product on a Friday and received it on Monday.
Fast shipping... great product... I'd recommend it to anyone with an iPad.

The case is sleek, tight-fitting, and is great with a Smart Cover. Even though the edges come around the iPad 2, the Smart Cover still sleeps and wakes the iPad perfectly.
Overall: Great Case, Good Price, I would recommend it!

ok for a quick word then,
this thing, the material is a little weird, it's some sort of cheap plastic, but let me tell you one thing, this cheap plastic feels like you just saved 40something dollars every time you have to think about it. and after a few days you won't. it's great fits great and for me it didnt have to save me from dropping my ipad2 still, hopefully it never needs to save me from that, but im 100% sure it will do a good job on that. very sturdy
and i evern got a free screen protector with it. which i didnt read in advanced !! 6 stars !
