This light works great with our gas grill-- it has magnets to attach to the side tray or clamps if that works better. For the price -- I haven't found better quality!

We bought this to attach to our elliptical trainer and use as a reading lamp, and it works well in this capacity. It does cast a bit of a spotlight - quite appropriate for grilling - as opposed to the more even wash of light that you'd get from a real reading lamp.

The flexible arm is sturdy enough that it stays where positioned. The maximum capacity of the clamp is 2 1/2 inches, and the clamp surfaces are sort of a rubberized plastic (i.e., with a little give), in case you're thinking of using this for something other than grilling. It works for us, and was a cheap quick fix, for an awkward spot in the room where a floor lamp or corded clip-on lamp wouldn't work.

Great design, high quality construction, durable and easy to clean. Everything a serious BBQist would love!

Seemed like a great idea ... a bbq light for my outdoor bbq grill so that I can see at night. Problem is that the battery compartment is not sealed against the elements. The batteries corroded into a single mass from outside moisture getting into the compartment (and we live in a "dry" area ... I can only imagine how much faster this would have corroded if we lived in a humid environment). Now the thing is a useless piece of trash.

perfect for the BBQ. Love the solid feel and strong magnet that really keeps this light in place. Plenty bright enough for a large BBQ. Good value compared to what's out there in the market...

This is a great product until you leave it out in the rain. The battery compartment is not sealed, and quickly rust the electrical connections.

I must remember to read reviews before I purchase, not after (and too late). The light looks hi-tech, sleek and initially works like a charm. I, unfortunately, used it outside for a BBQ grill. I kept it inside the grill cabinet, which was kept under an roof overhang, so no direct rain ever touched it. In spite of my caution, after one season, the light stopped. The cause was absolute rusted, corroded mess inside the battery compartment, obviously from moisture leakage into the unit. The metal parts of the battery holder were totally eaten away and unable to be rigged to work (I am the ultimate fixer of items which are designed to be unfixable -- which is common). Naturally, parts are not to be had. Heed my warning and use the Smart BBQ Light inside only -- and not for a grill. Total waste of money.

Works well, easy to use, well worth the money. THat magnetic base is really powerful.

after using this first in 2009, i left it on my bbq to reuse it again the following years. didn't work, even after replacing the batteries. looked closely at the electronics, they were useless chinese junk without appropriate seals for outdoor use. Don't buy it.

This light worked really well for about 2 months this summer, but in the fall it just stopped working. I opened the battery compartment, and found that batteries corroded, and contacts rusted out. Although the battery compartment is sealed with an O-ring, the temperature difference between day and night in Sunny San Diego caused moisture to condense inside of the battery compartment. This has led to total loss of the unit and money wasted. If you do purchase this, keep it inside when not in use.
