Instilling good money habits in your children is arguably one of life’s most important lessons. As parents we want our children to grow up to be financially secure and debt-free.

One topic that many parents want their child to learn about is financial literacy.

It’s crucial that a child be taught how to manage and save money. Just as some kids think money grows on trees, some parents think that their child acquiring the knowledge about money will fall from trees, but it won’t.

Many experts agree that the earlier you teach your child about money, the better. As early as possible, parents need to help kids build a strong understanding of basic money matters.

Instead of letting your child form misconceptions about money, wouldn’t it be smarter to give them the facts? Let’s be honest we are now living in a world where financial stability is no more.

The debt load of today’s young adult is exponentially higher than their parents’ generation and if this trend holds that debt number will continue to increase.

Make it your priority as a parent to begin to have weekly age-appropriate discussions as early as possible with your child about money.

This doesn’t have to be the type of conversation that bores them or turns them away; instead do it in ways that make it both fun and educational.

This book is written to equip parents with the tools needed to teach children about money in fun and educational ways. It is designed to help kids starting at age three, however there is information that you can share with a child into their teens.

Here’s to raising a financially fit young person!

Smart Money Kids is a great book for anyone trying to figure out how to effectively train your children to value money and prepare them for adulthood.

I really enjoyed how they used the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs as an opening for presenting this talk to your children. It was very well written, insightful, and engaging. I would recommend this to any parent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool for kids money education July 30, 2014

When it comes to kids and money it's never too young to start educating them. So many kids these days seem to think money falls from the sky, and it's up to use to teach kids money management skills. Smart Money Kids is an excellent guide for parents looking to teach their kids about the value of money. It has lots of fun ways to make money education entertaining as well as memorable for the kids.

One of the downsides to being in a digital age is it becomes difficult to think of money as a tangible object. Kids think you just swipe plastic and get whatever you want. The four jar lesson really seemed to bring the concept of money (and how hard you have to work just to get a little bit of it!) home for the kiddos. I found all of the ideas presented to be well thought out and also very easy to implement. This is an excellent tool for parents who want to raise their kids up to be financially responsible adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for teaching kids about money July 29, 2014

Smart Money Kids is a great idea for a book: a guide for parents to teach kids healthy habits about money. There are many awesome techniques and lessons here for both parents and kids to learn something.

I never thought of using these different, fun ways to get kids interested in managing money wisely and really drive the important points home. Counting, saving and the mental concepts that go with money are all included. Don't hang your kid out to dry and let them learn about money the way most of us do (by spending it) - prepare them for one of the toughest things to manage in life.

A very practical book for parents to help guide their kids about money management. Lots of parents don’t know how to teach their kids the value of money and how to properly use them. But after reading this book and following some principles it will be an easy guide to teach your kids the value and importance of money. I liked the story telling method for making kids understand the value of money as kids do learn from stories. Highly recommended.

I have always said that each child should learn from a tender age how to save. Starting from early will be so beneficial in the future like learning how to budget and developing strong spending habits. Some might say that it isn't necessary to teach kids how to deal with money from early but I disagree. This book aims to teach kids how to manage money effectively and what is means to save. The pointers offered and quite easy to understand and can lead to a financially stable future once followed. I definitely recommend this book!
