Product Description

This very clever lunch box is made from BPA-free, food grade silicone and biodegradable Eco Plastic. It is made to hold anything from a sandwich to last night's leftovers and even soup. Now it's easy to "go green" by using this reusable waste-free lunch system. Simply compress it to 1/3 of the size so that it is easy to carry and store when you are done. As an added bonus, this set comes complete with its own innovative two sided spork that snaps into the lid.

3.0 out of 5 stars larger than it says and flawed March 28, 2012
By Cheryl
Been using two of these (green and orange) for school lunches for about 3 months now. I do like it because it saves plastic baggies and wrap, but it has serious flaws. First, its quite a bit larger than dimensions say, more like 7 3/4" x 10 1/4" x 3. I think it was measured compressed and without the snap-on lid. It does not fit in my kids' lunchboxes. Since they don't fit in the lunch boxes, there's no way to keep them insulated. They just stick them in their backpacks, but then they tend to get squished. I don't have a dishwasher so these have always been gently hand washed. There is a silicone seal under the lid that never kept wet food from leaking, so we stopped packing applesauce real early on. The seal also falls out easily, one of ours is already lost at school. My son never even noticed he'd lost it since it's so thin and colorless it is practically invisible. Since we learned to only pack non-leaky stuff anyway, it doesn't matter. Also, makes the spoon/fork obsolete. The "dip" well on the top is useless. It's impossible for kids to open without squishing out the contents. It should be threaded. So no more carrots and ranch either. the routine has become: a sandwich, halved and stacked with a juice pouch tucked in next to it. (The juice pouch helps keep the sandwich from getting crushed. Some fruit (not wet, not too squishy) like dried apricots, sliced apples or orange sections. And a couple of cookies or maybe pretzels or chips. Not leaky, not too crushable, and relatively healthy.
Honestly, I'd rather be putting separate containers in a regular insulated lunch box with a reusable bottle, but these cost a lot and kids think they're cool so I'll keep using them.

Smart Planet 3-Compartment Lunch Box / B0051XRY4Q

I love this lunch box. It's lightweight, and being able to collapse it when empty is great for at-home storage and at-work backpack management.

The big compartment easily holds a sandwich; the smaller ones can hold cookies, chips, nuts, or anything else you might want. I haven't tested the compartments with liquids, but so far crumbs have stayed in their designated areas, so you're not going to end up with a lot of cross-contamination of your chips in your cookies and your cookies in your sandwich.

The lid snaps on nicely and I love the attached spoon/fork. There's also a little dipping tray up top with a plastic cap, but... I almost promise you'll lose the cap if you're not super careful. (Ours keeps coming off in the dishwasher.) Which reminds me: it's been through the dishwasher several times without any problems at all.

The compartments have never collapsed on me while food was still in them, which was something I was initially worried about. In fact, you have to apply a little bit of pressure to collapse them -- nothing strenuous, but enough so that they're hard to collapse on accident.

I can't express how much I love this lunch box. I'm seriously considering buying one in every color.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great lunch box March 3, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this item while searching through lunch boxes on Amazon. I did not expect it to be this large. It carry good amount of food and quality of box is quite good. And the fact it gets folded in to small space means I do not have to carry it back separately. It easily slips in to my laptop bag.

May be my requirement is unique but if there were a way to take out smaller section(s) out then I could carry microwaveable and cold items in same box. For now I take only foods which can all be heated or to be eaten cold.
