The piano mat is a great toy. Both of my kids who love music and dancing enjoy it a lot.
In reference to the comment about a toxic smell: the piano mat doesn't smell at all (and I am very sensitive to that). May be it was another brand, but the piano made by Smart Planet and sold by Back to Basics doesn't have any toxic or other smell. By the way it's cheaper on Amazon than their own website.

I ordered this piano for a party, which had about 40 children ages 15 and under. To my surprise the toy held up to many, many children playing on it. There were even times where there was lack of supervision and more than one child was on the mat at once and still the toy held up. At times, there were even grown ups and older children playing some well known tunes on the mat. At the end of the night, the piano was still playing clearly and with a quick wipe off with a wet cloth, was in great condition. If it can hold up to that kind of use, or maybe you can say, misuse, I believe it's a durable and fun toy.

I like the features of this piano, but the white part of the keys is quite small, making it difficult to play a song with your feet. My 3-year-old son loves playing the demo songs, but for that a regular-sized keyboard would do. This is a fine product as long as you don't want to actually play a song with your feet, and just want to jump around on it. There is also a nice feature where you can play each note of a demo song one-by-one by hitting any key.

Bought this for my 5 year old for Christmas. The instrument sound quality is excellent, The range of sample songs is fairly large. The one bad thing about this keyboard is that when you turn the volume down, once you change to another instrument or 'demo,' the volume goes back up dramatically and you have to readjust it each time. The default volume setting is painfully loud in our large living room.

Got these for each family of grandkids for Xmas. It has been a huge hit with all of them and their friends. From 4 years old to fifteen; solo, in groups and with their parents; stomped, tapped and toe-danced happy music is brightening up our homes. Fun contests occur. Little kids are learning the key board. Exercise happily replaces sitting before a computer. And, you csn play back your compositions and performances. They continue to work (all the different instruments, recorder and keys) despite what would be considered awful abuse for almost any toy.

This was disappointing. If all your kids care about is making a bunch of noise, then it's fine (durable, well made, etc.). But if your kids will actually want to play songs on it, it is difficult, if not impossible, to do, because the keys are too small to be able to hit just one note at a time. The black keys are way too large. They go almost all the way to the bottom of the keyboard, leaving only 2 1/2" of white key space to try to play, which, even on tip-toes, my kids had a hard time with. Also, there is only 2 1/4" between white keys and black keys. So if you want to play, say, a D, you have to stand off the keyboard, then very precisely place your tip-toe on the 2 1/4" space between notes, or the 2 1/2" space at the bottom. My kids, ages 6 and almost 10, were unable to play a D without hitting all of three surrounding keys. The picture is of their feet on the keyboard, which you can see - even though carefully placed - their feet were too big for hitting only one key on all the keys with the black ones between them.

the idea of this toy is great... the reality however, with two very active kids, not so much.
The kids played with it for about 4 minutes and then started sliding on it across the floor.
Although they "made it work" for them, I wasn't so thrilled as I wanted something a bit more
contained.
I think if there was some way to make it "stay put" it would be more fun.
