This is a good idea, but a horrible product. It takes about an hour to get the dough ready and then once you get the dough to somewhat fit into the pretzel shapes, they don't even turn out looking like pretzels. They taste okay, but would taste the same if you made them in the over and they would have actually looked like pretzels. The directions appear to be written by a grade schooler, and they aren't even properly written--for example, for the buttered pretzels, the directions instruct you to mix baking soda and water, but they never tell you what to do with the mixture. I'm going to attempt to return this useless machine and hope you don't make the same mistake as me by avoiding the purchase in the first place!

First, you can make pretzels on your own in the oven much much easier and they will taste a lot better. The pretzel size for this item are minature, about one tenth the size as the frozen super pretzels. They come out hard no matter how you cook them, so don't expect a soft super pretzel that you are use to. Once you make the dough you have to roll it up and place it in the maker while it's fully heated. So your fingers are getting burned while you try and place it in the thing since it has to be pre heated. Don't try this with little kids or you will be going to the hospital for 3rd degree burns. It would take you a couple of hours to make a small bowl of minature hard pretzels. And after tasting them I guarentee you will never ever use it again. The booklet for the recipes that you have to make the dough is very badly written also. It's just a bad product all around.

This machine is a total waste of money. The recipes are very vague. They tell u to mix things but never tell u what to do with it afterwards. The pretzels come out hard. A p.o.s. don't waste your money. If u want soft pretzels, just go buy them

This item does not deserve even one star. The negative reviews posted here are accurate.
Cons:
Pretzels are hard no matter the cooking time
Pretzels are small - not like the "Super Pretzels" available in the grocery store's frozen food section
Preparation is time-consuming
Recipe booklet is vague
Pros:
I can return it

Like others have said, you have to be really committed to make anything in this. It's just time consuming and annoying. Even when you get it right, you still end up with 6 blobs of salted dough. Don't waste your money. I'd rather buy a 6-pack of generic pretzels at the Dollar Tree than use this.

Bought it for Christmas and returned it the day after, unused. The recipes call for ingredients that are never mentioned in the paragraph. What do you do with them? I don't see how this saves any time or effort. You are still making the dough from scratch and then trying to fit it into the molds. I agree with others. Just make the dough and put it in the oven. Glad I didn't even bother trying it out. Another worthless product from China. If I could give it a zero, I would.

I bought this yesterday and I really like it. The pretzels from the recipe are delicious and I also like how you can melt your butter or cheese in the cup provided. The only thing I had a problem with is getting the dough into the pretzel shape. My pretzels weren't pretty, but they were good.

If you want to receive third degree burns while slowly making bad pretzels go ahead and buy this. The "cheese melting pod" sounds like a nice touch until you are confronted with a soft, squashy, extremely hot plastic cup full of molten cheese lava, firmly wedged into a spitting, smoking furnace of a pretzel maker. The included recipe book is untrustworthy. I tried the jalapeno cheddar recipe, which insisted that 5 tsp of salt was the correct amount to add. I don't know why I believed the recipe, but I followed it. Bad, terrible, terribly bad idea.
