However, the more information your child has, the more likely he or she will be to make good sexual choices. Smart Sex is a text for the MTV generation. It is a hip and insightful book on teenage sexuality and sexual choices that's fun to read--if you can get past the purple (and often sideways) graphics and lettering, not to mention the nonlinear approach. Detailed, matter-of-fact information, with neither scare tactics nor a preachy emphasis on sexual safety, makes this an excellent book for pre-teens and older kids. Emphasizing personal responsibility and choices, the book offers lots of details about birth control, STDs, date rape, relationships, and homosexuality, plus interviews with your kid's favorite rock and TV stars. With an extensive glossary, Smart Sex is an excellent resource guide.

A no-nonsense, no-kid-gloves approach to sexuality. Documentary style quotes from kids are woven in with practical information about STDs, orientation, boundary issues, pregnancy, health care and more. Also includes candid interviews with celebrities like Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Dave Navarro of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, comics Janeanne Garafalo and Bill Bellamy. An interesting read and a helpful guide for high school and college age readers and their parents.
