Interesting New Ideas on Slot Playing, October 11, 2010
This review is from: Smart Slot Strategies: A mathematical approach to winning slot machine strategies (Paperback)
I've read some of the other books on slot machines and there are some good ones out there, but this book points out some things that I haven't seen before, even in some of the more popular books. Reading this book gave me a different perspective on playing slot machines and gambling in general.
This book doesn't waste any time talking about the history of slot machines or describing different games or casino layouts. This book is all about how to do better on slot machines. The coverage on how to pick out the best slot machines gave me a lot to think about and the techniques described are easy to learn and easy to follow - and they're different from the techniques I've seen in other books.
I think the book also does a good job of deconstructing some of the old slot machine myths about picking which machines to play and how long to play them. I haven't been in a casino since I've read this book, but I think what I learned here will make me a much better player. I recommend this book to any serious player.

Interesting Stuff, January 6, 2011
This review is from: Smart Slot Strategies: A mathematical approach to winning slot machine strategies (Paperback)
Until I read this book, I never would have thought there could be a "system" for playing slot machines. And this one is easy to understand and apply. After reading this book, I had a lot more to think about and consider when I gamble, not just on slot machines, but on probabilities in general.
When I first got this book, I thought it was going to be a bunch of math-speak that was over my head, but it's nothing like that. It's all really easy to read and I'm surprised no one else has taken this approach, or if they have, maybe they've kept it a secret.

For me, this is the only book on slots worth getting., February 20, 2011
This review is from: Smart Slot Strategies: A mathematical approach to winning slot machine strategies (Paperback)
I've looked into other slot books, I have and have read "Slot Conquest, How to Beat The machines" By Frank Scoblete. The Scoblete book was a fun read, but most of what is in there is practical information. There was very little information about the kind of strategy to have when approaching slots. However, this book, "Smart Slot Strategies" By John W. Crockett was loaded with realistic strategies and very well thought out insights on slot machines, how they work, and everything you should take into consideration when even thinking about playing slots. Slots are not like Blackjack, there is no way to count the cards here, no "system" to use to get some great edge. And a lot of what has been written about slots in most slot books can be found online. But Crockett's book really has some valuable insight here on slot machines and gambling in general that is very well thought out. His ideas on money management in relation to slot play, the myths he dispels, the deep look at slot machine probabilities, the smart ways to look at the odds and the best strategies for dealing with them are factually thought out here.
This is not a big name published book, it is clearly a self-published thing, yet it is of good quality paper/binding wise. Crockett has obvious put some real effort into taking a factual look at slot playing and what needs to be known. And I doubt this book will be going out of date soon or anything because unlike other slot books he doesn't waste a bunch of time talking about specific machines to look for (slot machines come and go, they change them all the time), rather, he talks about slot machines themselves, how they really work inside, and what you can AND can't know about them. Then he goes from there and approaches things from what seems to be a fairly realistic point of view.
There is nothing in this book really too hard for most people. And I'm not saying that all his ideas are perfect or anything, but this guy seems to be at the head of the group on this subject and this book has some real good ideas.
